While I don't think it's ever clearly stated, carefully reading about the throwaway lines of his old life, my guess is he was somewhere in his twenties before he ended up in the Eroge world. He stated that he used to kill time by watching a movie, eating at a restaurant , or chilling at a cafe which suggests he has a source of income and those are typical time killing hobbies of someone who isn't in a relationship but is still relatively young. If he was still in high school/college he would have probably mentioned something school related at some point.

I hope he dosesn't use the seed of possibility since his current limitation forms his style and specialty which is interesting, it would be quite bland if he was just become good at everything because of an item. It also kind of a cop-out if he dosesn't just train his way out and just rely on doping to become the strongest
Ah I think you're misunderstanding what the seeds do. In game terms the seeds are just removing level/skill caps. He'll still have to train, but his maximum potential would be increased. His big problem is that he's capped at a lower level/potential than the hero. That being said I agree that I want him to keep his current style and just Branch out from there.
Maybe like he said, he will start a fight with a melee first then if it turns rough, just take some distance and then bombard the enemy from afar
