    yea i get that this is an exaggerated situation for the sake of conversation. I have also read a decent number of mangas relating to the idea of forced marriage because of low pop growth. And the lower taxes for married people (and per child) no doubt alliviates many people's financial problems. It's not a complete waste of taxpayer money since having kids are expensive. Just a bit of emotional backlash from the experience of a friend.
