Not exactly what happened, if you're referring to what I think you're referring to:

In other words: No Van clones involved The point is less that Van got put in charge (all demons instinctively feel the need to obey their creator, unlike most other races. And Van being able to kill them permanently makes that decision only that much easier). Van just made a lot of demons by accident. So many they named him king of their world.

Over time, yes, doesn't stop him from changing after drinking Darcia's blood for so long. He even brought it up after finishing a blood drink session and said he didn't feel any different.
