Discussion Favorite Arc in a Novel?

When the arc is coming to a conclusion tying everything together. Like The lord of mysteries, the end of the first arc is what made me hooked on the series. The author left a plot hole in the early chapters, and turned out its actually the smoking gun. Something insignificant actually the main plot.

 

Cultivation Chat Group. Not exactly an arc, but let's call it, "MC babysitting the OP V.White."
- The Chu family fight, the part where V.White "summon" the chat group members to be exact
- The hand-guided-tractor race, that one hell of a Mario Kart race of cultivators
- "Helicopter to space, mystery of the damaged ISS", (ISS as in International Space Station). V.White wanted to learn how to fly a helicopter, got baited into a race by a fellow cultivator, went overboard, sent the 'copter to outer space & ram into the ISS

 

So... basically every Chinese novel with the MC that has the ego from it's previous life or is too stupid to care if he killed a sect/clan member and the whole 5 realms over his own chase him to death because OP plot armor will save him in the last instant?

 

My favorite Arc in novel, is when the Mc begin his revenge because of something.

He was kind at the beginning but because of him/her (the vilain) the mc/fc become a devil.

I remember about the novel Xian ni Renegade immortal. When the Mc begin his revenge.

At the beginning, he was kind, but after a certain event,

he become a devilking.

Transcending the nine heaven

I like when the mc try to flirt with the female lead (But the girl call him uncle)
( Too much damage.)

When a girl puts your friend in an embarrassing situation, look at the sky ignoring it

Sometime the MC has no choice, the vilain try to kill him first because,
the mc/fc has a very pretty girlfriend/boyfriend or a treasure that interests him.

But i guess, sometime too, the mc is really too stupid.

 

Really difficult to pick one. Still I believe the cube arc from The Novel's Extra deserves a mention.

 

The Beginning of the Northern Plains Arc in Revrent Inasnity aka Daoist Gu....
There's very few chapters that make me shudder like that one did, I like dark stuff, but it really got me good.

Legendery Moonlight Sculptor the Orc vs Undead arc.

Desolate Era , When MC goes around galaxy meeting and fighting sword experts to master his sword technique to the pinicle breaking trough the physical restrictions of the laws of physics.

Any death game scenario , without OP MC. Just Hardworking and training mc.

 

Reverend insanity, the second book .
Renegade immortal, Mortal.
Martial world,Eternal Abyss .
Strongest system ,the searching for Exodia Parts.

 

Xian Ni, the arc where Wang Lin lives a mortal life. Lots of emotions, simply amazing.

 

I have many, but the first names pop up in my mind are:
- Forty Millenniums of Cultivation (Empire arc)
- Thriller Paradise (Reasoning Club arc)
- Game of Gods (Omniscient Race arc)

 

Hmm, new contestant for favorite, Ferryman arc from Pursuit of the Truth. Such a beautiful arc.

 

Agree with you there. Though, it had many great moments. 4th god of bersekers arc was great for another reason.

 

Okay time to unfold my directory, it's obvious but there'll be spoilers :
Mushoku Tensei - it's my favorite novel and there are more than one arc I like but the best one is when he escorts Ariel back to Asura. That's when he couldn't go back and had to fight Hitogami. The first time he really went against him, it was a battle of wits against an opponent that can see the future and manipulate anyone at will. Who would he manipulate ? What for ? etc...

Sovereign of Judgement - again, a lot of good things but the very best is "Berserkers gather, we infiltrate at once. Infiltrate". DAMN GUYS I GOT THE CHILLS AT SUCH ABSOLUTE AWESOMENESS. No fuck given, rush, kill and win.

Shield Hero (WN) - dunno if I'm alone (probably not yeah yeah) but my favorite arc is when he turned into a mad scientist. The climax was brilliant.

Warlock of the Magus World - When he destroyed the Snake Dowager while also dooming Beelzebub at the same time. The scheme was ingenious.

Douluo Dalu - that's not really a single arc per se, but the entire time when they were at school (entering Shrek and the tournament) was very good imo. The dynamics between the characters was entertaining.

Sevens - The territory management part, when he got some lands and started building his personal forces). What I liked in this novel is the humans management focus, it showed how hard it is and it was (at least it seemed) realistic within the settings. Each ancestors had their style and their set of problems to solve and they didn't suceed in everything they did.

HakoMari - vol.1 the writing style hooked me up. I was trapped in an insane desire to see the end. The mystery et psychology are top notch.

I can go on and add a few novels but I've done enough... x)

 

My favorite has to be Yi Tian Mountain arc in Reverend Insanity, Never thought I’d actually scream in happiness over some decisions the MC decides to take at the end of the arc.
