Anyone has problems with this? I started waking up when I moved to another place, maybe coz the bed is a bit short, does that make sense? My feet are just over the edge so I wear socks when sleeping coz the blanket won't cover them lol. I'm not stressed I think, not waking up in sweat or due to nightmares, I exercise and don't take naps.
From personal expirience i can say that the comfort of your bed really can influence your sleep.Another contributing factor might be anxiety.Either that or its just a one off thing and your fine.
I make sure my whole body is on the bed when I sleep because I'm paranoid. what if my toes get chewed off by imaginary air sharks?
*raises hand* In my case is because of health problems; namely chronic allergic acute sinusitis. In your case, i'm gonna make a conjecture, and say it's because you (or better, your body/brain) hasn't adapted to your new environment. We are creatures of habits, and when something around us changes, our bodies/brains react, sometimes unconsciously, to it. TLDR: just give it some time for you to adjust.
Usually it's because you're yet to be comfortable/familiar around the place. I tend to be tense in these cases, so the first thing you have to do is relax and enjoy the bed.
Something I noticed when I was trying to sleep on one of the open couches at my university was how easily I woke up at the slightest sound. I didn't trust my environment so I slept as lightly as I could in order to keep myself safe. I wonder if you're subconsciously doing the same thing?
Could be but when I slept over in the past at someone's place I'd be uncomfortable in the morning, but I'm not here.
It might be either you trust your friend at the sleep over, have frequented the place before, and you are familiar with it and can trust your unguarded sleeping body to them? While as when you move out, you might be still cautious in whatever neighborhood you are in, because it differ from the past. It should be all about comfort, you see.
please no once my friend told me the introduction line of a horror story. one line, and I was terrified. I have exams in 10 hours, I need my dreamless sleep
It may take some time for your body to become familiar with the new materials that comprise the mattress. Your old mattress has conformed to your body type, so it might be a while for your body to consider the new mattress to be as comfortable as the old mattress. It can take up to eight weeks for your body to adjust to the new surroundings. Some people are allergic to some types of materials, so it may be wise to check what are the materials that were used to manufacture the mattress. I usually get lucky and don't wake up because I don't get much sleep as is so when I finally fall asleep it's a deep sleep. When I go on vacation/stay somewhere else though I'll sometimes wake up a few times at night because idek I'm just not used to staying there yet? Even if there's not really any issues and it's comfortable I just can't. So it could either be that or maybe something's haunting you lol
