Looking for a chinese novel with a good plot that doesn't feel like very generic . It could be wuxia/xianxia or anything as long as the writting is good and doesn't feel amateurish . I don't mind harem or slow paced but please no yuri/bl/gender bender . I prefer male mc . I'll include list of novel that i've read and enjoy below as a reference to what kind of novel i enjoyed . Ancient Godly Monarch Desolate Era City of Sin The Great Ruler Release that Witch Divine throne primordial blood The sinful life of emperor Kingdom Bloodline Lord of Mysteries Joy of Life Sword dynasty

The Amber Sword - One of the few web novels that actually has lore. PS you can just make a reading list and make it public.
Even if it’s well written, it could be badly translated. WuxiaWorld probably the only group that gives high quality Novels. So it’d be best to look there. For Webnovel, it seems they’re really lacking translators since the quality drops a lot
If you want books that are actually good then it's best to stick to good writers. A lot of these cultivation novels may have their fans, but they're not really on the level of the kinds of books that get published and tons of fan attention. You'd be best off looking at books like Jin Yong's: The Legend of the Condor Heroes Smiling Proud Wanderer Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils These books are so popular that they constantly get made into dramas and you can see writers constantly borrow (steal) ideas from them. They are the fundamental wuxia novels, and they are enormously influential. Alternatively if you want Romance novels, you can check out Tong Hua. She's not nearly as famous as Jin Yong but she is excellent at characterization and building up emotion and tension. Tong Hua is successful as a writer that she now writes for television as well. Bu Bu Jing Xin Ballad of the Desert Song in the Clouds And if you have enough guts, there's Yue Guan. He writes amazing books that are both enormously entertaining and tackle broad and complex ideas in interesting ways. These books really opened my eyes on what can be achieved with historical novels and they are the main reason I started reading Chinese web novels in the first place. Yue Guan is also popular enough that he writes for TV nowadays as well. Night Emperor 回到明朝当王爷 步步生莲 The bad news is that these novels aren't translated so you'll have to learn Chinese in order to enjoy them. Well, you can watch the dramas instead but they're not as good as the books. the other way to look at this is that when Chinese books have good prose, translating them will necessarily lose some 50-70% of the quality anyways. I've tried reading translations that exist and they're not nearly as fun as the original.
