[Poll] How depraved of a person are you willing to date?

This was a random shower thought (although I didn't get it in the shower).

In a certain parallel isekai universe, assume that the afterlife definitely exists and that there is Heaven and Hell. Generally speaking, good people go to Heaven and bad people go to Hell.

Mathematically, exactly 50% of the world will go to Heaven, and the other 50% will go to Hell.

Apparently, the isekai gods here grade on a bell curve.

It's impossible to know with 100% certainty where you will end up until after you die and are judged by the deities. However, the more pure/depraved someone is, it is reasonable to assume that they're more likely more likely to end up in the good/bad place.

In either case, you have lived in this isekai universe for 10 years, and recently you started to date someone one month ago.

The Temple has a magic orb that can assess the current likelihood that someone will end up in Heaven/Hell (assuming you died today), and anyone can use it for free at any point. Nobody is required to use it on a regular basis. However, the magic orb is a ritual part of marriage ceremonies -- by convention, groom and bride must show each other their results on the magic orb as part of the wedding ritual.

Since you have just started dating, you and your SO have joked about your results on the magic orb. Neither of you have used the orb before, but you are slightly curious for the fun of it. Your SO suggested to go on a date to the Temple to try out the orb as a joke.

But speaking seriously, is there a limit to a depravity before you'd be unwilling to date your partner? If you went to the temple today and exchanged results, is there a depravity score that would cause you to rethink your new relationship?

Assume that the magic orb is 100% accurate and is a divine instrument that can never be wrong. A person with a 100% likelihood of going to Hell will absolutely go to Hell if they died today.

2. What kind of score do you estimate the orb would assign to you? (note: the system in this world does not match Earth religions -- it's purely a metric of purity/depravity)

3. How would you feel if you got a 50% depravity score and there's a 50% chance you'd end up in Heaven or Hell? Would you try to change your behavior?

 

does that matter? the result doesn't affect your present life, only the afterlife......and if you are depravated or not doesn't mean you can't change that...

 

I mean, if there is this orb, then we can use the scientific method to figure out exactly what the criteria is for determining a person's depravity, and thus would be able to engineer a program to raise that chance. Unfortunately I don't know what the heaven and hell in this case would be like so I don't know how much it matters.

Depravity is too broad... depends in what way they are/aren't depraved, but if it's impossible to tell then I probably won't care.

 

Yes, the monks/priests/religious people in this world are highly scientific.

The orb is their "bible" and they're constantly conducting tests to determine whether a certain action raises or lowers their score.

There are also extensive textbooks and thousands of volumes of religious studies describing various ways to raise or lower your score. You can join a monastery if you want to read them.

I mean, I’m picky about who I date. I’m the type of person who wants to be in charge. So honestly, if my partner is depraved in some way, it would be something I’m okay with in the first place.

Also, I endorse sticking it in crazy. After all, you’d have to be crazier than crazy to do it anyways.

Depends on the type of depravity. The 'too pure' type is sketchy as well.

 

I chose the - I'm male - I don't care about the orb result regardless of what it says - because it depends on whether I like them or not. Depravity is also really broad, there might be some depravity that people can tolerate.

Too pure would be annoying too. Especially if I get a sermon all the time in the relationship.

80%-90% hell (85%??) i would rethink my relationship. i'm not a good person either, that percentage probably was also what my depravity was. it's just that i don't want to be with someone with the same or higher depravity percentage with me. i think it's not compatible (and also cause i was afraid)
i don't think there would be someone who is 'too pure' for me...i also don't want to be with someone who is too pure, lest i feel 'dirty'

80%-90% hell? or maybe 70% if we squint a bit lololololol

don't think so...don't know why, but i don't wanna change for who i'm not just cause 50:50 chance of salvation. it's hypocrite, i guess...

Lust: Could be fine (though I don't like NTR)
Wrath: Probably not
Envy: This is the stuff Yandere are made of, so I'd rather not
Greed: Depends
Gluttony: Regardless of beauty standards, my wallet says no
Pride: Won't date me
Sloth: Yes - Fine - Pet - Pet rock

Since there are many definitions as to why you go to hell or not (from Hitler in heaven to one time litterer in hell), I'd say anything below 70% hell is fine and anything above is questionable.

 

You mean hypothetically 50% (currently) then not mathematically, because you are basing that on current population (assuming that half will go to heaven and the other to hell is correct), and who will go to heaven and who will to go to hell doesn't only concern current population but all of humanity, and I don't think anyone got the exact number of how many people lived/ died/ will live and die since the beginning of time till the end of the world, no?
