Question How many hours will it take to translate 100 chapters?

I've noticed that a lot of readers wait until they see at least 100 chapters be translated.
So I thought to myself, how many hours will it take for a translator to finish 100 chapters?

 

100 chapters is not something that translation speed can be found specifically for. 100 chapters is an arbitrary amount of words and can take in some cases months or years to do whilst in others only weeks. 100 chapters is not always equal!

1m gonna guess around 200-230 hours. So 8-10 days translating with no sleep or breaks.

If your “translator” is google sensei you could be done in a few hours.

Seriously though it depends on how long each chapter is, how proficient you are at the language, how focused can you be without being distracted, without other RL crap popping up to pull you away, also depending on the original language’s prose or usage of lesser known terms which could include regional dialects or slang, and finally depends on the translator surviving the full duration of the translating sequence without being isekaied by Truck-kun.

 

At least 9 months since at that time you can call it your baby. I mean if you look at it as 3 chapters per week then that would be around 33 weeks = 33 ÷4 = 8.25 months considering than life, interests and other mumbo jumbo are involved.

I just started a new series the villain has blackened again on ch1 I think 9/24/19. As of yesterday 11/3 I'm at chapter 60. So about 3 months or less for me to hit chapter 100.

That's with having 4 other ongoing series too. Just depends on the character count honestly and the TL time.

 

2 hours per chapter is either very short chapters or a very fast translator.

 

Yup, I was asumming very short chapters. Normal chapters take 4-5 per chapter from wat I've seen translators say.

 

Assuming 1,500 words per chapter and translator is fluent, skilled and experienced in translation. Roughly 2hrs per chapter with proper focus.

1 hour if you skip all the editing, none of the hard to translate passage or just be really flexible in your translation.

3-5hrs if you have a heavy and hard to translate chapter with ridiculous references to something so rare that you have to spend time on wiki to read about it.

If you do nothing but translate as a job or something then you can probably crank out 5-10 chapters a day.

So 100 chaps could take anywhere from 10 days to a couple months.

 

1-2 hours for a short chapter (less if it's like hella short) and at most probably 2-4 for normal/some longer chapters with frequent breaks. So at most 400 hours? With breaks (which sometimes includes me watching videos, eating, or napping/sleeping).

Depends. If you ram it through a machine translator and never look at what you're doing you can get it done in a day. If you actually care about what you're doing it might take weeks.
