NU Link: Fallen Monarch The first batch of Korean novels translated and licensed by Meteor Strike Media. Please take a look! Spoiler: Description: The Demon Lord, humanity’s greatest enemy. Every few decades one rises to power, threatening the human realm and all who inhabit it. To stand against the Demon Lord and its armies, humanity relies on Heroes who are sent forth to face the unfaceable. Thoma was one such Hero, though he defeated his generation’s Demon Lord over 20 years ago. Now, he is but a simple monk living in a remote abbey in the mountains of the Holy Kingdom, where he cares for abandoned children and orphans of war. Though his life has been peaceful for a long time now, things are changing. Times are getting tougher and the abbey is struggling to make ends meet. Thoma knows the future is uncertain, yet he continues to struggle toward a better tomorrow. Will he succeed, or will the past he left behind finally catch up to him?
Ch 1: A short chapter to showcase the novel. Each arc will start as "Page of...." with Prologue & Epilogue. Only time will tell... Ch 2: There is this cool word cloud we made for the chapter that was eventually scrapped because it didn't turn out the way we wanted it. Ch 3: There are many things wrong with the world of Fallen Monarch. Constant threat? of the demon army, inequality of wealth, slavery, and such... What can one do to make the world a better place? Ellie and Brother Faron are really good characters. It's just that Brother Faron... is going through some troubling times Spoiler: and... “I’m sorry. I am truly sorry! Brother Thoma…! Yes, my wife is doing well. Thankfully, she’s gotten over the worst of it. She’s still quite ill, but… She will recover! Yes, she will definitely get better!” It doesn't seem like it'll improve. Ch 4: I wonder what she wanted to say.... I MUST KNOW. Ch 5: The novel got real dark. I can only imagine Salem's face be something like this. [Source: Returner's Magic]
Good reviews on what could be “Oh god, not another Demon Lord vs MC KR novel!” But I will give it a try. Some new authors are doing their best to overturn the tropes.
The Demon Lord already got smacked before the novel even started. Definitely not what you're expecting, though I'm sure a new Demon lord will show up eventually.
So far so good. Villains are suitably scummy, and hints on the plot. I will read about 20 more chapters, because KR novel can take that long before I find out if they’re good. Little heavy handed on the characterization....I prefer more moral ambiguity.
Whatever you guys do, if you’re thinking of reading this novel, READ UP TO CHAPTER 6!!!!!!!! That single chapter explains all the other preceding chapters. Simple, but elegantly and masterfully done by the author.
It really impressed me...we already had all the facts, but the author subtly changed the emphasis, and got us good.... Like, “AH! That’s why! It all makes sense!” I suspect soon that sister will die, because something will push the MC into entering that secret room...
Once again, the author completely changed the tropes. Read nau! You will be shocked, puzzled, and interested... NOT BORED!! @NeriaTL , this might be a winner.
There's never a dull moment. Author spent the first chapters building all this up to he could literally beat us over the head with foreshadowed reveals.
He can’t build a house... I am now getting the impression this novel is about overturning “What you’ve always known was TRUE.” And that pope needs to die...soon.
Even though that pope is characterized in that horribly overdone, cartoon villain way that so many KR novels do, it fits, because this author did the prep well. Also, its not out of character for that one guy to stand up to the pope. Sometimes, people do remarkable things under duress.
Faron was a bro. Too bad it's looking like it's going to cost him. Dude lost his wife and now this... not exactly doing too hot at the moment.
