Yeah, they are. Which is why I'm a bit confused why you call them repackaged pop-ups. I mean, I understand your point, but the difference in annoyance factor is great enough I'm not sure how they could be the same beast.

Well, the party's already over, and everything has been explained already. But, still would like to repeat the same things.
1. The power was always there. Translators could always remove negative comments on their novels and make them appear good.
2. About the spam encouraging thing. You are not getting subjective criteria for Karma spam, it is defined, in loose terms, in their announcements. So, I don't see why being critical would be frowned upon.
3. If you read the announcements carefully, you would get that they plan on dropping their value with other systems coming into place. With that placed, the incentive would lower.
And I think WW has more of an announcing problem though, they need to better plan and write their announcements. The industry is changing and their goodwill alone won't get it very much farther.

 

I was just responding to Wujigege's post, since he mentioned that he thought karma was just a bad thing. Was just waxing philosophical for a brief moment.
