    I know there's been a few mangaka who got screwed by a publisher thus burnt the bridges as revenge and (i think) at least some of them were still able to work with other publishers. I dont think publishers are as monolithically powerful as they used to be. Still powerful but i think only a few publishers now would probably have the pull to really blacklist a mangaka from the industry.

    Also, there are more options nowadays to self-publish manga bypassing the publishers if need be.

    Cool, self-publishing changed author-publisher relations a lot in the West in the last, it should do the same there given time.

    Kind of reminds me of a lot of bands/musicians can or might get ripped off/dealt a bad deal with those big music publishing/record companies.
