Its mostly the collecting aspect for me In most games i collect everything i can In games like fallout or destiny i feel compelled to collect at least 1 of every gun and armor set even if I'll never use any of them
Gotta catch everything! Short and simple. The fact that it has quite the diversity of Pokemons really help sell the idea since there is bound to be one that a random person may like, unappealing as it is to others.

To me, it was because of the first season of pokemon, it was one of the first animes I watched and perhaps one of the reasons why I started watching animes, the seasons after the first one were dropping in quality but I always wanted to know when that one who wanted to be the very best will become the very best Kind of like this one as well It was one of the animes I grew up watching but then it became boring to watch (it got too long, too much unnecessary episodes) and although I don't follow the new seasons/episodes but I do keep up with the news concerning it, I want to see the ending
As a big pokemon fan from the original red and blue days, I loved all the games. The designs are subjective, but since the design of the old pokemon change along with the new ones, I am fine with it. Possibly the biggest thing to me was that the build up of the legendary pokemon being something akin to gods and myths, being able to get involved in such an event as a kid felt awesome. In games like dragon Quest, I didnt get that feeling because the hero was this magic swordsman that killed big hulking demons. In pokemon, you travel with your favorite pet(s) and go on an adventure that is easy to get immersed into.
Never really fed them and is almost always outdoors.. besides keeping them alive you dont really need to do anything else. So Max profit with near zero cost.
Because of the mysteries of pokemon: Ash had been stuck at age 10 for 22 years (Apr 1, 1997) Ash has been inflicted bodily harm e.g. burned, electrocuted, killed and wondering why parents still allow their kids watch the anime The Joy, Jenny, and Don George Dynasties Letting 10 year olds travel wandering around the regions w/o adult supervision, and solve world disasters. Where the heck are those cops.
