Recommendations Bad Ending Novel

Dear fellow readers,

Like the title says, please recommend me stories that you consider as bad ending / sad ending / something full of tragedies. I also like stories with open end that leave a bad taste in your mouth haha. Don't @ me, I'm just bored with happy ending lol. Preferably fantasy/cultivation/adventure novel, I don't really like harem but if they aren't important for the plot like in WMW then it's okay. Doesn't matter if it's in webnovel/royalroad/any other site, just please don't recommend me raw books cause I don't want to translate them manually .

But films, I can name a few.
The mist.
No country for old men.
Oldboy (the original korean one is better).

And if you fancy romance stories, The fault in our Stars, or La La Land has sad endings.

The Lazy King

 

The ending wasn't bad, as the protagonist got what he wanted.

 

The ending is tragic, and while he may have gotten what he wanted, it sucks for pretty much everyone involved. And considering said people get almost as much screen time as the MC, its a bad ending.

Not to mention by our standards, what he got isn't particularly a good thing. It's like if someone wanted to commit suicide and did so, you can't say that isn't a bad end despite getting what one wanted.

And if you have any doubts, OP asked for " bad ending / sad ending / something full of tragedies" if you read past the title.

I consider it an open/happy ending, because of how the protagonist finally got some shut eye. His loyal follower was contended too, excluding certain demons who sought to exploit him, but that's normal since they're demons following a sins system. Princess also got what she wanted for her rule, as long she doesn't instigate him again. As for the angels, I don't give a rat's ass about them, since they were really unimportant in the story. As for his only blood kin, though the desire did not truly come into fruition, it was resolved in it's own way. If you read the hints about the protagonist's backstory and the world building, I say, it's the best ending both heaven and hell could hope for. A standstill until some foolish being triggers him to awaken with annihilation in his wake.

Yes, I agree with you in this part, it's full of tragedies as we're witnessing a post-story of events of what could have been a cliche development in another world. Everyone's already tired, if you know who I mean, as for the younger demons, let them have their fun and pay for their own undoings. Some learn and evolved, as some die and perished. Again, angels were irrelevant as they only appeared when it was already concluding.

i've read Renegade Immortal to chapter 2020 and the tragic moments are very spaced out, and if u want to read a tragic novel and not just a cultivation novel with some kinda sad moments u'd be better of not reading it, since as its a cultivation novel its super long.
