Dance with Me (2019). Japanese musical film by director Shinobu Yaguchi, the guy who made "Water Boys" (2001).

I just caught this film on a flight back to Asia. Every trip, I go through whatever airlines' (United/ANA/Japan Airlines) curated list of international movies are, and this one frankly impressed me. Just because I hardly ever see musical related Japanese films. Seems relatively well executed, and quite a few Jpop classics in it (70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s). Not sure if it's common for Japanese films to be distributed by WarnerBros though ... @Wujigege !!

Also caught "Kingdom" (2019). Just as corny as expected ... but they nailed the cast for sure. Everyone looks like their manga counterpart ... check out Ouki

Hahaha Dance With Me is something I certainly would love to watch
Mebu from Yuusha Yoshiiko is in it.

I thought the female lead is Mizukawa Asami for a second. I guess its all the newer actresses pushing 2000
About Kingdom, it felt a bit too dumbed down in the anime since it is a miltaristic story but it was okay before I dropped it.
Japan seems to be under attack from Kents from Kenta to Kento
Every actor these days is called Kent
It makes me appreciate the Screen Actors Guild of America even more
It is worse in Korea when stars have the same first name and last name
Imagine if both of them used the same name first name and last name

Female lead is Ayaka Miyoshi. I thought she looked familar 'cos she cameo'd in Jay Chou's recent MV (as a subservient girlfriend who gets screwed over --not literally-- by her boyfriend). Critics were blasting Jay Chou for being a sexist assh*ole. Even more surprising that the lyricist is Vincent Fang.
Can't find many "official" news coverage, but this seems accurate enough.

I think the netizens were overreacting but the lyricist response justified their outrage.
People want to see better role models on media, you cant really blame them.
As for me, not since Michael Jackson and a few RnB hits from criminals like R Kelly have I been touched by music
I just stick to OSTs which are songs with hours of story behind them or I go for instrumentals like the great Ken Arai

The OST of Shitsuren Chocolatier blew my mind :blobnosebleed:
You had scenes where there is total silence and all you hear is Ishihara Saitomi's heels

Saying mind blown is for dumb kids :blobunamused:
