If you haven't already tl'ed it , then - his mother's clan is basically divided into 2 factions, one which is currently ruling it publicly and their leader is the brother of CX's mother (also he is one of the more important bad guys later on) but in actuality they are controlled by Supreme Religion (one of the 4 major factions). This part of the clan also tries to kill him on several occasions. On the other side is the faction that is basically controlled by his mother and they behave favorably towards CX but they can't do much as they are oppressed by the other side and CX's mother is locked in a dungeon / basement.
Hmm I've read past the part where MC finally confronts the Zuoqui Clan and they were being controlled by the Sovereign Sect not Supreme Religion unless they are the same sect just named differently by mtl?
