Seriously, what is it with childhood friends and having such poor chances with the MC? But eh, I personally don't like tsunderes unless they're played VERY well so I don't feel too bad about this. TBH the only tsundere in a harem I've actually like (barring Fate) was in this one manga where the tsundere was so, well... tsundere, that when she finally got the guts to confess to the MC she'd traumatized him so badly that he was physically unable to recognize anything she said as a love confession no matter how hard she came onto him.

This is one of those forced plots 'dense protagonist' ones, how can you think your 'friend' wanna lose his virginity with YOU before leaving, like...uh hello, please put your brain online...there's plenty of other ppl right and plus, from the 1st extra of big brother's POV, it seems like the MC is straight, so why would he agree to letting his male friend take his own virginity.

A situation where many people love/like MC, and MC either doesn't 'realize/ignores it' or only choose 1 person out of the crowd is what I would call a 'false harem', Japanese novels have tons of those, Chinese ones tend to have mostly true harems.

Spoiler: Confession

[Dumb] Alec is only able to properly confess his feelings when the events of the 3rd arc are wrapping up (Yeah, it takes a long time). Until then, [Even dumber] Ruth still thinks he's just "helping out his friend" >A< !! The exact scene is in chapter 42. Alec explains the whole deal about wanting to give the bracelet as an engagement jewel, how he has always loved Ruth and how aggravated he became because every single time he comes back to the village there's someone else pursuing Ruth!

Spoiler: Oficial snusnu time

After that confession, Ruth still hasn't given Alec his answer (*slaps Ruth*) and the 4th arc and 5th arc are pretty much a continuous storyline. The 4th Arc focus on certain happenings around the village and there's a lot of info on the truth behind the existence of "The village of the beginning" and the "Initial dungeon". It's also when Ruth finally starts to realize all the feelings he has towards Alec. Because of a certain "trial", Alec and his party lose their memories related to their "core belief", that makes them lose like 1/2 of their power until they can "find" it again. When Alec comes back to the village, he has forgotten everything related to Ruth. The 5th arc is both of the party members and Ruth trying to make Alec recover his memories together with his lost strength. That's where the "self inserted porn novel (feat. Ruth)" appears. Hehehe. After Alec realizes Ruth is the source of his true strenght (After some really dramatic things happen, like almost falling off a cliff and dying >A<) they have some private time for themselves and Ruth also talks about the events of his previous life. Alec takes him to his flying ship (It even has a jacuzzi wut!!!) and there's finally a whole smut chapter. In the final chapter, before flying off with his party on the ship, Alec SHOUTS from the deck (so that the whole village can hear him) that he'll marry Ruth after his quest is done. He asks the village chief to give his blessings and prepare accordingly. LOL In the extras, it's implied that after Alec masters the teleportation technique he keeps making night visits to Ruth's bedroom.

It's not very detailed because a lot of things happen in between! Plot-wise, these are the arcs were the story evolves the most and the side characters also get a lot of development so the romance is really sloooow.

Yup! It was just released in Japan and I‘m waiting for my preorder to arrive! The author finished the 7th arc now so I updated the OP.

Yup, the novel isn't over. The author just started uploading the extra chapters for the 7th arc. I didn't finish reading yet but from what I can tell... (Actually, I don't remember if I already wrote this before):

Spoiler: ATTENTION MAJOR PLOT SPOILER AHEAD

The cover art for the 2nd volume is the missing half-beast prince from one of the kingdoms that Alec visited during his adventures. He shows up at the village after a series of shortcomings and Ruth ends up taking care of him (as a fluffy pet...since his animal form is a wolf). Well, they somehow end up in the bath together (Yes, Ruth does this again...Poor Maxim was not enough for him!) and the prince goes "Plop! Ops, I'm actually a healthy good looking youth!".

Between the 4th and 5th Arc, Ruth discovers that the "hero" is nothing but a piece in a more intricated "plan" from hundreds of years ago that involved the collapse of the world and the four "gods". The gods were actually "regular people" *coughs* that sacrificed themselves as "pillars" to maintain their world.
The "First village's dungeon" hides a secret entrance to their "rest place". Then, we get to know that 2 of them (Zenovia and Sittiadias) are Jio's grandchildren (He's the dragonkin monarch). Fance is the Spirit King's brother and Wonnok's lover (Wonnok is the Demon king but first appears in the 3rd Arc as a "wandering magician"). Aristotlesia (or the "noisy woman") is the only human. Jio, Wonnok and the Spirit King think she's the most pitiable one since all of her beloved people probably already passed away and nobody is awaiting her awakening after a millennium. Other than them, in the secret chamber, there are two other former heroes, a man and a woman. Ruth then realizes that Alec's destiny is to become stronger as he passes the "heroic trials" and finally be sacrificed as a "world pillar".

Because the information is too shocking, Wonnok appears and erases his memory. But it's implied that Ruth & Alec's relationship and their "status" (The one who holds the fate of the hero) aren't normal and Alec is proving to be a lot stronger (and a bit smarter, except for Ruth-related stuff) than the past heroes. The "old man group" (Jio, Wonnok and the Spirit King) believe Alec might be the key to free their beloved family from their terrible fate and decide to observe them closely (Yes, these bastards are trying to use him but they have strong motives so I don't know how to feel about it).

The 6th Arc is one that introduces the Spirit King and a bit of the past about the "old days of the world". The extras are actually very important since they reveal a lot about how Alec is coming closer to finding out the truth about Aristotlesia's "oracles" (or machinations).

On the 7th Arc, it seems that some creepy incidents that occur in the village are caused by another antagonist related to the ancient times just like in the 6th Arc buuuut... I didn't read it completely yet I think that person can manipulate dolls to create artificial soldiers. Forgive me Argh, I hate realistic dolls and masks. Even the description creeps me out, ok!!! I-I...I still need to leap this psychological hurdle and read it properly.

But from what I understood from certain snippets, Alec and Ruth finally "rediscover" the truth about the past and they're about to deal with it head-on as it looks like Alec and his party are going to their final mission. I don't know if this means the next Arc might be the last one... but we're getting close!

The title for the 7th Arc "Artificial weapons are not supposed to have hearts" seems to be a reference to the artificial soldiers and also to the awakening of the omniscient orichalcum dagger that Alec gave to Ruth for self-protection at the end of the 5th Arc (if I'm not mistaken). It's a super cheat weapon that can only be used by its acknowledged "owner" and also can shapeshift and communicate too.
