every modern chinese soul swap novel i read that r published by yours truely Q, i have found that they use dollar as currency.....r they so fking ashamed of their own Grandpa Mao that they went for Abe?i have seen Zhongheng use RMB or straight up Yuan, but not Mr. Q.....they like to act rich.....$300 for breakfast sounds a lot more expensive compared to 300 RMB.....

Is it the translation or the raws itself.

If its translation, blame the tl for using dollars.

a shitty TL might mess up the currency. most of the time if not all the time writers use their national currency no matter what.

especially JP writers. "oh i have to translate this 500 gold as 500 trillion yen otherwise the readers won't understand"

It's just the translator. The Chinese language doesn't even have a word that means "dollar" generically. "元" is yuan, and "美元" means American dollar, but it literally is "American yuan".

Same "easy path" as writing an isekai. That way they don't have to actually think about how to use the currencies in a meaningful way based on character interactions. (Actually, don't those cases come almost exclusively from isekai novels?)

Either that or they're dumb enough to get lost when playing videogames that use fictional currencies.

In everyday Mandarin, kuai (Chinese: 块; pinyin: kuài; literally: 'piece') is usually used when discussing money and renminbi or yuan are rarely heard. -Wiki

And kuai (块) is typically translated to dollar, which is the name of soooo many currencies in the world. Give the translation flak only if it's translating it to USD or something smh.

The currency is translated to dollars since their target audience is Americans.
