Ive been wanting to ask this since forever

How does he turn corners and make those awesome maneuvers



This one on the other hand is just like those big bikes which can somewhat turn corners

 

by the power of edge and protag plot armor obviously

 

most likely by doing low angle turns

 

Either inclined turns or rear wheel steering.

 

Have you seen the dark knight movie? Batman's bike got a similar concept

 

I would agree with leaning into the turns if the tires were not so wide and flat. So I'm going to have to agree with

 

A combination of white and black magic, with a little potion as the fuel and oil...

 

The front wheel also have big metal covers, and the rear wheel has no room to turn

 

See that crab arm that connects to the front wheel? There's a mechanism in there that pulls or pushes the front wheel. When he wants more comfortable cruise, both arms push the wheel forward. When he wants to turn right, the right arm pushes forward and the left arm pulls backward. When he wants to turn left, the left arm pushes forward and the right arm pulls backward.

The crab arm is basically a mechanical (maybe hydraulic-based?) armoured suspension frame that hides the turning mechanism. It makes sense in a setting where you need a reliable single-person battle motorcycle that is not afraid of small-yield explosions.

 

sigh well there was a scene in the movie advent children where he literally stabs his foot into the ground to make his bike do a 180 then jumping off like mario does with yoshi

 

at high speed, you turn the front tyre extremely little. just to guide the initial direction. and then you lean. same for every bike, big or small. or you can also turn using skidding (by applying front and rear brake just enough to let it skid and then opens throttle more once it starts. however you wont be pointing your front tyre at the direction you're going but instead the opposite)

you have seen car drifting videos, have you? almost similar.

 

Iirc the bike didnt live thrue that. So atleast they didnt have too unrunrealistic of expectations of the bikes durability xD

Ooooo just remembered another anime with a similar bike design. The old AKIRA bikes! Even has a handy picture with it opened up to see the front connection of the frame.

very nice. first time i saw the second picture.

i happened to remember, one of my friend actually has a bike with such front fork. i message him and he told me, such steering mechanism (cloud's, not akira's) is called Hub-center Steering. you can google it if you like.

btw, my friend's was a Bimota Tesi, a very rare (and very expensive ) bike. he doesn't want to tell how much he paid for it, but i reckon it definitely could buy more than half-a-dozen of mine's
