Spoiler: semi relevant thing Didn’t mention this as this happened at arc 2 start but before MC and ML travelled together, MC was tailing ML. ML then enters some gambling den and MC, being the upright gentleman, will just wait outside (making ML amused). Once, I think he met his subordinate who tells him the next seal is at the Daoist sect. ML wanted to just charge in and grab it but is persuaded by that subordinate to pretend to be an entering disciple. So I think subordinate is a good guy. Spoiler: demon world MC, ML and cupid girl enters the portal and arrive at the demon town. The town lord is said to be a flower demon made by the demon lord one passing day when he flicked his blood on a flower (???). (Funny fact: demon’s name is Hua Wu Neng literally meaning useless flower because the demon lord thinks he’s useless). Apparently there’s 12 demon towns and to get to where demon lord is they must pass a few and it gets harder and harder (a lot of descriptions here that went over my head). Cupid girl then says instead of getting to where demon lord is, they should make demon lord get to them and they bicker on how to do so before concluding they had no idea. So for now, they decide to find the flower demon who may have an idea where is demon lord. They tour the city as it is MC and cupid girl’s first time there. When there’s 3 people in a group, 1 person may become the odd one out and cupid girl realizes it is her as MC prefers to stick to ML. MC finds this lantern thing and remarks how can it light up without a light source. Apparently there’s some stone in the demon world that can light up using their power and MC ends up buying one. He thinks it’s a good buy but is told that it’s a cheap stone. ML then says he can give him a better one. They buy some food and MC is knocked into and drops his food. The person apologises and turns out they are running to an auction run by the flower demon. So the 3 of them head there too. It’s a building said to be run by the flower demon and co-opened by the demon lord. At the entrance there’s this very pretty umbrella left behind by the demon lord. MC really likes it but knows he cannot afford it (ML notices). They enter. The auction is for this dude in a cage. MC is shocked, thinking is a human but the dude is neither human or demon. Cupid girl thinks is a celestial. Dude is confused as to why he is there. Cupid girl sends a message up to notify them of this but notes that he may not be saved in time. MC thinks it’s his fate. He suddenly looks at dude’s face and rushes forward. The dude has a similar face to his friend (I think is the 9th prince) but upon closer look, they act totally differently. MC awkwardly excuses himself as everyone is staring at him. I think MC somehow nearly gets a second nosebleed (but didn’t bleed) and everyone notes his blood is same as demon king and bows down to him. Dude (I think is dude, I read this 10 hours ago) tells MC that there are 3 other fox demon in the crowd. MC notes 2 girls, 1 of whom look similar to ML. The 3rd fox demon belongs to a rival clan and has 8 tails. He emerges wanting to kill MC. Everyone panics and want to run. Cupid girl rushes forward, wanting to pull MC to safety but MC refuses to leave without ML who had disappeared. Dude ask to free him as they discuss and they both said no. Poor dude. 8 tails wants to attack them and with no choice, MC brandishes his black knife, shocking cupid girl. ML’s possible relative jumps in to fight 8 tails but is clearly not a match for him too. Just then, ML arrives. Side note: I get confused with the characters later on
Spoiler: Fight It is at this point everyone realizes ML is the demon king and MC thinks he is done for. They fight and ML summons his black knife (MC notes his own knife disappeared). ML wins and everyone bows down to him. Cupid girl does the same and MC too (but due to shock and fear). MC then tells cupid girl they must quickly escape for else they are doomed. Cupid girl is confused. MC asks her to ask him a specific question. Cupid girl is super confused so MC acts out 2 characters of asking and answering himself. Is basically a conversation MC had with ML before that says the demon king is bad etc. Cupid girl is stunned, asking him does he have a death wish. Just as they want to leave, they are stopped by flower demon who says ML will be angry if he lets MC leave and he is to bring MC to clean up and rest. MC cries that ML wants to clean him up then eat him. Flower demon says that MC is ML’s only child and he will treat him well (throughout the story, people mention MC is like demon king’s child as they share the “same blood”). Dude pipes up at this point that MC has yet to completely fuse with the demon king’s blood but once he does so, it can’t count as demon king’s blood so they will be entirely unrelated. MC, scared, claims that he is ML’s child, he will gladly be that (as he doesn’t want ML to kill him, haha). So MC is led away to a place. Also, flower demon frees dude and apologises to him. Turns out dude is a very high ranking celestial and MC wonders how he got captured (apparently the cage is some special material). Spoiler: Room The place prepared for him has a lot of flowery scents to bathe in that MC is not very interested in. But he thinks that in arc 3, ML mentioned that he smelled nice so maybe ML likes these kinds of scents and quickly cleans himself in it. Meanwhile, the demons tasked with preparing the room are all wondering what kind of person he is as all these years, ML has never been associated with anyone (girl or boy). Many people want to have that kind of relationship with ML but they are either killed or ignored and now flower demon tells them to prepare a room for a young mister who ML considers important?! Only ML is unaware of all these happening until he gets back to the room and is hit in the face by the strong smell. MC immediately bows and calls him father and ML is like “????!!!!” ML thinks in his head, sarcastically, that the flower demon did a beautiful job and he even gained a son. MC BS his way on how ML should not take the things he said previously to heart and amuses ML. ML asks MC if he’s really scared of him and is really gentle with MC. MC finally calms down. Just as they were having a moment, ML suddenly collapses with blood dripping out of his nose, ears etc. This scares MC greatly and he calls for help. An unknown celestial suddenly arrives and tells MC to go with him if he wants to save ML. Unknown celestial shall now be referred to golden celestial. Golden celestial brings MC to a place where dude is also there. There's 5 arcs to this story, we're getting to the bulk of arc 4 here!
Seems interesting...the plot intro almost sounds like ML was slowly leading [cooking] the lamb to the demon realm [his bowl] to be slaughtered [eaten] .
Spoiler: Going back So they tell MC that ML, over the years, had willingly scattered his soul (the Chinese here is hard so I only get a gist) so he is slowly dying (killing himself). MC is shocked but is told that with immortals, over such a long lifespan, they may get tired of life and find ways to end it. And also there’s 4 big spells(??) and 1 such spell is able to send MC literally back in time (stronger than the mirror spell in arc 3 that sent entertainer’s soul to the past to see what happened to old demon) and only by doing so can they save ML. MC is confused as to what he is supposed to do in the past but they do not have time to explain and sends MC into the spell after giving MC this piece of stone (?mirror?). MC wakes in an unfamiliar place and discovers old demon in the mirror. Old demon’s original form is the mirror. Old demon tells MC that he will accompany MC (as entertainer’s soul is still in slumber). Old demon also tells MC to choose carefully whether he really wants to go back to the past to before ML was cast out of the celestial realm. Old demon shows him a few memories that reveals that red haired dude (from arc 1), knowingly made MC chase after ML and that he is being used (as the only person who can save ML). Old demon knows MC has small guts and will likely not take the risk since he may really die in that world of the past. MC surprises him by saying he still wants to go back as he is the only one who can save ML. Spoiler: part 2 Once they go back in time, they are immediately knocked unconscious and thrown into a jail. When MC wakes, he finds himself next to a young boy who looks familiar and he tries to make friends and understand where they are. Old demon discourages MC from befriending the young boy as (note I couldn’t really understand this part): so they are in an era where old and new gods exist. I think is when the new gods overthrew the old ones. So there’s bad blood between them. The previous demon king had a weapon who took on human form and is that boy. They also learn that they are demons being captured to be part of this annual hunt by the celestials but as the hunted down group. They are released into an area and MC wants to find ML as this kind of event, ML is sure to be there. But old demon thinks he is courting death by doing so. They encounter a little kid that MC is shocked looks just like his cousin when he was young. The boy attacks them but is easily defeated by MC (he’s just a little kid) who takes his weapon and whacks him for being rude to his elders, essentially treating him like his cousin. The boy cries and runs away and old demon says that they will be in trouble if the kid tells his uncle. MC is confused, like who is his uncle? Turns out, his uncle is the golden celestial who in the future becomes the head of the celestials (I think). MC innocently thinks the kid’s pride will prevent him from telling his elders but the kid does. Golden celestial was with this female fighting celestial and they also call ML to go and beat up MC. So that’s the first time ML and MC meet in the past. ML shoots an attack at MC that MC manages to be unharmed by because they share blood and shocks ML. Female fighting celestial attacks MC and breaks the kid’s weapon. The kid cries and golden celestial and female fighting celestial end up trying to placate him so MC quickly runs away. ML watches him the entire time. (Old demon is in the mirror the whole time). MC thinks that he had fled far enough but ML suddenly appears in front of him and asks his name. MC says it then ML turns to leave. MC quickly follows despite old demon saying that it is even more dangerous to be around ML during the hunt as many others have a grudge against ML. Indeed, bird demon duo finds ML and challenges him. Bird demon senior and ML fight and MC goes to the side in order not to interfere. Old demon says that ML is betrothed to bird demon senior’s relative so getting either injured is not good so someone will come and stop them. Female fighting celestial arrives and wants to join the fight but they are all stopped by golden celestial. As they turn to leave, bird demon senior is furious and he smashes (?) the ground and somehow wakes this old big demon beast (?Also bird demon senior is seriously injured so old demon beast tastes his blood and wants to eat him). Everyone runs and MC tells ML he will look for him later before running. Female fighting celestial asks ML if he is joining them but he says he has something to do first. As they flee, they see young boy from before. They also see bird demon senior, injured and hiding in fear. MC wants to help but old demon says in history he is not eaten (seeing as he is fine in current times) so there’s no need to help. Just as bird demon senior is about to be caught, his eye catches that of young boy. Young boy saves him by kicking the old big demon beast’s arm and is whacked down by the beast. Just then, ML arrives and fights the beast. Old demon tells MC that he’s already changed history as in the past, ML did not fight the beast. The beast is defeated and a bunch of celestials finds the young boy and realizes who he is and wants to kill him. MC is stopped by old demon from helping (also MC felt powerless to help) and bird demon senior tries to stop them but is kicked aside. MC finally steps in and stops them but the killing blow already landed. As young boy dies in MC’s arm, he asks MC if he did good and MC said yes then young boy tells MC his name as he wants to be remembered before passing on. It’s wolf demon’s name. MC realizes that. He is very very upset but old demon says by passing on then he is able to reincarnate to wolf demon and live a happier life. The other celestials want to attack MC but is stopped by the appearance of ML who doesn’t look too happy seeing MC trying to dig a grave for the boy. ML ask who the boy is to MC and MC said is his friend then ML said but now it is just an empty shell and MC cannot refute. ML then decides to bring MC back to Tu Shan in the celestial realm to everyone’s surprise. Spoiler: cute I cannot remember which fight is this but ML took off his outer coat to fight and MC quickly picks it up to prevent it from getting dirty. After the fight, MC runs over to ML and helps him put on his outer coat, looking very familiar with ML. Everyone is shocked because they’ve never seen anyone act so familiar with ML before. MC is made to wash up after arriving at ML’s place while ML goes off somewhere (to meet his father). As MC is washing up, ML comes back and finds MC alluring and is shocked by his own response. MC notices ML is injured as when ML is up close, MC can smell blood. Alarmed, MC tries to get out of the bath to check on ML but ML gets flustered and tells him to stay in the bath and to find him once he is done.
Spoiler: Tu shan part 1 MC stays in ML’s palace and ML forbids him from leaving. ML likes MC’s scent and likes to hug him. ML ask MC to sleep with him and at first MC refuses but ML said his bed is comfy and MC couldn’t think of a reason to refute so he agrees. MC also helps apply medicine on ML’s wound. MC finds himself in a dream in a forest (?) and sees ML. He calls out to ML and finds him a bit unfamiliar. ML seems happy to see MC and suddenly goes up to him and kisses him. MC is very surprised but cannot get out of his grip. MC wakes up. So the next few days, ML has to go to school and MC cannot follow but is told to stay in the mansion. MC is exploring when suddenly someone jumps over the wall and is one of the tushan clan member. Clan member tells MC that ML got punished by his father (the clan head) for bringing MC in and MC is upset. Clan member wants to bring MC away so as to keep ML out of trouble but MC refuses. Clan member also tells MC that ML was punished using this particular weapon (my meagre Chinese knowledge translates it as some kind of weapon made out of dragon bone?). The next day, MC resolves to go find that weapon and destroy it (why? I’m not sure). The weapon is guarded by a five tail clan member. Five tails easily overpowers MC at first but MC holds on and finally defeats him, knocking him unconscious. MC passes out and wakes up hours later and goes to destroy the weapon, keeping a shard of it. (All these while, old demon is with him but in the mirror) Old demon is speechless when MC says something along the lines of “how dare you injure ML” as he breaks the weapon. MC also becomes a 5 tails. MC returns to ML’s place and all the servants are like “omg you’re finally back!” ML had been frantically looking for him and upon seeing MC, crushes him in a hug. MC is amused. ML notices MC’s injuries that MC lies saying he fell down. ML hugs MC to sleep and MC enters dream again. This time, ML is at the feet of a beautiful woman crucified on a tree (dead). ML notices MC and once again pulls him down for a kiss. MC wonders who is that woman. Upon waking up, MC also learns that he had really entered ML’s dream but when he ask ML what he did in the dream, ML doesn’t give a straight answer. ML then refuses to go to school, worried that MC will leave. MC is like “why would I leave if you are here?” and promises not to leave ML’s place again. ML leaves and MC gets bored. Old demon then asks MC if he realized that he’s in love with ML. MC is shocked and sputters no but old demon points out that what kind of friends will sleep together. MC refutes saying ML is the one who asked him. Old demon then says even so, what kind of friends will hug each other in sleep. MC defends saying ML is a fox and it’s their nature to want warmth in their sleep (in denial). Frustrated, old demon decides to teach MC a lesson and sends him into a dream. Spoiler: Dream MC wakes up back in his home with his parents, his annoying cousin and his friend the 9th prince. He is shocked and for a moment thinks that all that happened with ML was a dream. At first, he is really happy but as the day ends, he realizes he is not truly happy. At the end, he demands for old demon to stop playing with him. Old demon asks him why is it that he realizes this is all a dream yet when he was in the dream with ML, he didn’t realise it was a dream until he had woken up. Old demon then tells him that this dream is based on MC’s greatest desire on the day he met ML, meaning that what he desired had changed after meeting ML. MC asks to speak to his old self. MC asks old MC if he is willing to leave this dream to help a friend and old MC ask if that friend is even more important to MC than his own parents and even his best friend the 9th prince. MC realized his true feelings. As they leave the dream, old demon pipes in that had this dream been MC’s true desire, MC would have never realise it was a dream and MC told him to shut it (implying that the dreams where ML kissed him had been his true desire). Spoiler: Tu shan part 2 ML returns in a hurry, even refusing plans to go out with female fighting celestial and others, and is happy to see MC still there. ML also hears the rumour of that dragon bone weapon being broken and people suspecting MC as wasn’t MC missing during that time (as ML made a lot of commotion while looking for him) but ML insists is not MC. He returns and notices MC’s change in mood and MC takes the initiative to kiss ML. While surprised, ML is also happy. Boy (who looks like MC’s cousin when he was younger), interrupts them saying ML promised to lend him a book. ML brings them both to his library and lends boy the book who then leaves. ML tells MC that he can come to this library if he is bored when ML is not around. ML contemplates to bring MC to school with him so they won’t separate but MC decides against it as it may bring trouble. The books there are not read but is like watching a movie. So one day when ML is at school, MC goes to the library as he had seen a book he was interested in. Old demon says that is a history of tu shan written by ML and warns MC that the contents are heavy. MC opens the book.
Spoiler: ML's past So I may have forgotten to mention this earlier but in this past arc, ML’s hair is pure white. This is because he broke through some cultivation thing but in this past where ML is still young, his hair is black. So MC sees ML getting scolded and beaten by his father for resting when he should be training to break through that cultivation thing. His mother enters and stops his father. MC recognizes ML’s mother as the dead lady in ML’s dream. So turns out his parents are married not out of love but because of their genes to make the perfect baby that’s supposed to be very powerful. ML’s mother loves his father but his father already has another sweetheart (his half sister’s mother, half sister is the person who turned up at the auction house but ML despises her for good reason). So the fact that ML cannot break through frustrates his father a lot and deems him useless. MC starts to hate ML’s father. ML is close to his mother and tries his best for her. She tells him to get along with his half siblings but most of them look down on him. Half sister pretends to be nice to him but insults him behind his bag, only his younger brother defends him (ML overhears this). One day, I think half sister’s mother had passed away so ML’s mother hopes to finally win ML’s father’s heart and dresses up to meet his father at the tree. To make her happy, ML goes to some place to get flowers. While there, his ride disappears and he hurries home by foot, taking up to 3 days. When he gets back, younger brother cries at him on where had he been and ML notices something is wrong. He rushes to find his mother and finds her crucified on that very tree in her pretty clothes. Turns out, the clan elder people blamed his mother for him and breaking through and was told that his mother secretly got him to escape the place. As punishment, his father killed her. ML is heartbroken and approaches his mother’s figure despite being told to stand down and accept his own punishment by his father. The flowers ML brought back for his mother is stained with blood and suddenly, ML’s hair turns white and everyone is able to feel his power. He finally broke through. MC also learns that ML changed his given name from Bai to Rong Bai in honour of his mother (as her name contained the Rong word) despite his father’s displeasure. MC understands why ML hates his own clan so much. Spoiler: Tu Shan part 3 When ML returns, MC shows ML the broken piece of the weapon revealing he was the one who defeated the 5 tails. ML is surprised but not angry and tells MC not to let others know. So another day, MC leaves ML’s place while ML is gone and chance upon ML’s younger brother plotting with some people. He intrudes and asks younger brother about ML acting strangely lately. Turns out, ML’s fiancee birthday is coming soon and in celebration, they intend for them to get married that day. Younger brother wants to prevent it from happening and MC insists on helping out despite younger brother’s objection. After he returns and sees ML, MC bites ML, drawing blood as a symbolism of something and tells ML to return the favour to him in the future(it comes around full circle later on). Scene changes to ML’s fiancée. She’s a spoilt princess but one thing that her father will not stop is her brother bullying her. Brother comes and forces her to spill the plan and turns out, she is to stab ML during the wedding night to weaken him. Also the brother and her are not blood related. Brother tells her if she really wants to weaken ML, she should say on the day of the wedding that she doesn’t want to marry him, to further humiliate him then maybe her life can be spared. So day of wedding comes. ML is obviously unwilling to marry her. They reach the alter and suddenly, she ask if ML doesn’t want to marry her. ML says yes, ML’s father is furious but ML is adamant not to marry her. Before anyone can lash out at ML, she suddenly blocks their path and turns out it is MC in disguise. He says no one is to harm ML and that he is going to bring ML out of there, aiming to hit ML’s father. ML begins the process of bringing out his heart blood (eventually this is what MC eats in the future to turn into a half demon) as MC guards him. ML’s original fiancée is killed by her own father secretly who then blames ML to attack him. As MC is caught in a bad attack, old demon says it is time to bring him back to the present. MC doesn’t have time to say bye to ML as he vanishes in the spell. Welp that's the end of arc 4. Arc 5 is going to be short!

So happy Rong Bai's identity was finally revealed! I've been waiting for this moment since the beginning of the novel and was hoping that it wouldn't be dragged out for 100 chapters or something, and it didn't!! can't wait for the next chapterrr
I was going to ask how did MC get the demon king blood in his body, but then the last spoilers said it all. It was tied all the way with the climax XD No wonder I'm hooked, will keep this in my MTL list. But I sstill hope to read the translations T T
Does anyone know if the couple from the second arc ever get mentioned again? Or did the author write a spin-off or oneshot for them? I kind of think that their story was a good set-up for one because it felt like their end in the 2nd arc wasn't complete. (I didn't want to be spoiled for the rest of the story because I just finished the 2nd arc, so I didn't read any of the spoiler past the 2nd arc).
I'm so sad the translation for this stopped. Reading an MTL version is not a substitute and kills the story imo. Ah well, another novel going on the "abandoned" list due to bad MTL, I guess.
In the story, it keeps mentioning how Song Ci finds these characters that are eerily similar to his cousin and best friend. What is the real relationship between them?
From my limited understanding, his cousin and best friend should be reincarnations of the characters he meets through the Yin Yang Time Travel thing.
