I am sick and my nose is all stuffy, but lately I have been smelling this rotting smell whenever I opened my refrigerator which is less than 5 times. I have been “too busy” to bother checking the source. I thought my mom and siblings would hunt it down, but today is Friday. The refrigerator stills has that smell since Wednesday. I am so sick yet I can still smell that damn rotten smell, so it must be very strong. Yet nobody bother to remove the source. Is it just me? I grab the meat bag peaking between the fork shelf and level it against my face. I give it a sniff to make sure. It’s not the meat. I stare at the black pot on the bottom shelf and thought no way; but my eyes keep coming back to it. I have seen that black pot since Wednesday too. At the time, I was also staring at the black pot and had the same thoughts too; but didn’t act on it. I grab the handle and lift the lid. Oh—god, it is a horrible rotten smell. White molds grew on the surface of the greasy broth and shake with the wave of the liquid as I move it to the sink. Maybe my nose’s sense of smell is very strong? I could even smell things when my nose is all stuffy. How’s your nose?
I'd say your family members are just lazy and don't care much. Mold has pretty strong smell, if the pot wasn't completely sealed it is more weird that only you noticed.
Colds are troublesome. I hope you get well soon. As for your question: I've an average sense of smell.
once a cold fully clears for a time the sense will seem at least twice as strong then normal. also there is the phenomenon where if a scent grows strong slowly you learn to ignore it and it will just be written off as a weird smell that goes away even as the source grows stronger till it hits a break point.
Honestly, I can't smell anything from closed pots. And I leave my dishes in the sink waaay too long, so I have encountered your situation before. It would have to be really, really moldy to smell through a closed lid.
If i didn't have any contact with smoker i can smell someone parfume around 5 meter, expecialy if they using so many parfume
....... I smell things I shouldnt physically be able to. Like flowers on the other side of a window, mowed lawn on the TV.... photos and movies have triggered this as well... this it's another reason I've never liked live action porn....
Ah your poor nose. Yea. Sometimes when my mom is away for a period of time, she comes back and say the house smells weird. But we all, the usual tenants, said “what? Something is off about her.” None of us could smell it. Sometimes my mom complains about my body smell and then later complains about my brother’s body smell. I’m giving her the “what’s wrong with you” stare because I don’t smell anything off my brother unless he sweats like it has rain outside. You know a lot of colognes? I could probably just name one. Even then, I don’t have good smell memory.
I have pretty good sense of smell, ( as well as touch, taste, sight and sound). But sadly, a terrible memory, means i can't tell what is what most of the times. I can recognise the number of distinct smells, But often can't remember what it corresponds to.
My nose is a wimp. Starts bleeding just because I rubbed it vigorously. If you’re gonna start itching don’t complain when I try to fix it! Damn pansy.
From my experience, it seems smell sensitivity got lot stronger during cold and taste buds get paralyzed instead, dunno why though.
I try not to improve my nose's sniffing capability. My brother has pretty deathly smelling farts and I want to live til 50. That said, I can smell bullshit from less than a mile away
Better than most , it helps me when i cook, problem is, I can't handle strong perfume, I gagged just near people with strong perfume
Pretty strong when I am hungry, I mean I could smell foods that are far away and was able to look for it even when I didn't know the place that much.
