Recommendations Not a Control Freak System

I want to read novel where MC has a system that doesn't really much interfere with what the MC is going to do and how he is going to do. Like forcing the MC to do something that he/she has no interest but has a heavy punishment if not completed or at least make the MC have a choice to refuse it. Because it's like watching a novel where the MC is more of like a errand boy forced to this and this and this, rinse and repeat which is boring. It's a plus if the MC can be made as a human with various thoughts and not a stiff machine. I also like if he/she is neutral or leaning to the dark side.
