I find these so called evil protagonist novels disappointing due to lack of consequences. An Evil Mc falling in love with the sister of a man he killed would be an interesting development. Her finding out and resenting him. Causing him to lose his love Happy New Year. Cheers!
The problem is that there is no MC to go around curb stomping the evil protagonist like in a normal novel.
What would be even more messed up would be not washing his hands after doing his "business". Thats pure evil right there.
I started reading that before most people on here and even spoke to the translator about my thoughts on dropping it. At a glance, Fang Yuan seems like an evil protagonist but he really isn't Being human as already failed him once
Every evil protagonist novel (thought I had no idea if I have read some LOL) that I read always got various justification to do their bad deed. Like #jokerquote said "bad people are good people who are hurt"
Try Supreme Magus. It is filled with hypocrisy and contradictions. He says he had to work hard for everything good that he got. I laugh because his good parents weren't bought. He says he is a misanthrope and prefers solitude but he feels lonely when his spirit advisor leaves for 5 minutes
I lost interest in novel with classic xianxia or xuanhuan novel especially something with crippled or trash mc at the beginning.
It's not the same. It's original webnovel. A magic novel and he is overpowered. My issue is that everyone can use all elements. I enjoy specializations. A fire mage fighting a wind mage and seeing the wind mage trying to deal with his own kryptonite makes for a much better story than two people who can use all elements
To be fair, Evil Protagonist in these novels are just another way of Self-insert. It's just an edgier Self-fulfilment. Example, the classic evil protagonist, Leylin from Warlock of the Magus World. That novel is literally a sailing boat for the MC, having insane cheat and thick plot armour. Although enjoyable, it is definitely a self-fulfilment novel. Although I said I love Evil Protagonist, I meant Tragic Protagonist Who Turned Evil. That's why FY from Reverend Insanity was still at the top of my list.
AS @userunfriendly and @WinByDying will attest. I havent really read Western published fiction. I usually stick to inspirational books like 7 Habits I should really get back into them but I lost my Amazon account and really dont want to create a new one Exactly. Personally I am in it for the Schadenfreude. Without it, the story is bland
