okay i have read many historical novels, manhua or comics that are in chinese historical eras. okay i know that the highest is the emperor practically Da Rules next is the prime minister or some shit. I actually don't know the rest i need a clear power structure so i can flex to my friends that i'm knowledgeable about this shitz or something cause reading wikipedia is confusing as hell. i mean where are even wangyes fit in this? i know that the equivalent in that in european noblity is duke and they probably have territories as well and the most common wangyes are the brothers of the emperor i don't know what they are for just to have a title? i need a clear power structure of their rankings. Even though i read many historical novels like that they don't really expound on the intricacies of the empire. Like what is next to prime minister? i need a clear power structure. where do the general even fit?
i am reading it but i only got confused since the one in wikipedia doesn't match what i see in the novels since i'm only interested because of that
...you seriously using novels written by authors who may or may not have complete knowledge to compare with wikipedia? Though seriously, none of us here are expert historians, so take some bits on your own then.
dude this wouldn't interest me if not bcause of CN. take this for example I want a summary wikipedia gave me a dissertation like i just want some general idea so i wouldn't be confused asf the next time i read something. I want exactly those author's thoughts on what they thought imperial china's power structure is since I'm not really using this knowledge for anything official i read fiction what use do i have for cold hard truth that may or may not be even include on those types of historical era novels. That's why i'm asking here where people who also read a bunch of novels that i did. I wouldn't be asking if i can search it myself.
I just googled imperial China hierarchy and clicked on the first link https://www.albany.edu/eas/205/ranks course handout.pdf Kinda just skimmed read through it but I think it's what you want? Also includes Japan and Korea's if you're interested in that
To be at least a little bit helpful, I found the PDF of the dictionary that was cited in @Irie 's link. More than 8000 entries Crazy. Link
Whoa... Well, when you have so many dynasties and they all like having different titles, I guess it all piles up enough to fill a dictionary
While that might be helpful to a translator, there doesnt seem to be much organization to that list. Just 497 pages of titles that were given out by Chinese Emperors. LoL
Holy! those emperors is just casually giving out titles! like if i'm the emperor i'll give someone the title Banana and have the power of a prime minister. I feel like that's what happened xD
