Wow. Going by the summary. I thought it was about the smart poor guy gong and how he was comforting the shou but the show doesn't need comfort because he's rich.

Yeah, the title can be pretty misleading. I like cute MCs like Qiao Shao. Too bad his grades are so poor despite all the studying he does.

There was a review? Huh, I did not notice that until you mentioned it. I just checked and saw the review. I did not think there'd be a review with a spoiler in it this early since the series was only recently published a couple days ago. There was a bit of spoilers in it and it was so cute with the misunderstanding between MC and ML. I like cute stories like this one. Those melodramatic ones with the constant annoying cannon fodders and brainless stepfamily leave a bad aftertaste in my mouth so I need some cute, fluffy stories like this one to wash it out. Yep, that's why I want to know more about the series and the MC and ML.

Im actually struggling to read this because 100% fluff can get old, but im so conflicted because i love it so much but im also board at the same time lol. Give it a go. Its pretty cute even if u end up dropping it later.

 

ok some spoilers:

MC is Qiao Shao, formerly Qiao Yi ?? He was kidnapped by a crazy woman who lost her kid for a year until they found him, so he had trauma vs any older woman. He didn’t want the special treatment and being treated as if he is fragile, so MC signed up for a regular high school.

ML’s real name is Xie Shen, the genius child of the prominent (but now on the downturn) Xie family. Apparently he’s good enough to get into Tsinghua University at the age of 10, which made Grandpa Xie put so much pressure on him. His mom didn’t want that and tried to bring him away from the Xie but they sort of told her that she’s taking away his future etc so (on top of her depression because of her husband cheating i think) so she committed suicide. He apparently made a deal that he can cut ties with the Xie family if he earns 10 mil before he is 20, that’s why he always stays up late at night making programs and ends up sleeping in class. The reason why ML is in a regular high school is because he wants to defy his grandpa’s wishes.

MC’s real roommate is Lou Xiao, but ML paid for the bed so he goes there to sleep esp. during lunch time (at night sometimes Lou Xiao returns to sleep in the dorm, ML squeezes with MC). He eventually drops out of High School due to some stuff i can’t remember and becomes a pro-gamer and wins 3 championships in a row (like Faker).

Wei Jianyu ? is Lou Xiao’s lackey. For the longest time he misunderstood that ML and Lou Xiao were competing for MC’s affections but it’s actually all just ML asking Lou Xiao to take care of MC.

Chen Xu is the 2nd ranked in class. He is really poor and people though he was a thief because he scavenged some bag from the trash bin. Turns out another classmate was playing a prank on the guy who lost his bag and threw the bag in the trash. MC and ML asked the teachers for the CCTV footage and they posted it on the school boards/forum. He mistakenly became MC’s standard on how much money a regular person has so to his classmates MC appears to be really poor.

Papa Qiao is a really kindhearted man who dotes on MC wholeheartedly, he once joined the Parent Teacher’s Association group on WeChat and sent red packets worth as much as 8888 yuan to like 150 parents lol and they were like “who is this rich young master”. Qiao Shao invited him to the group so he was really nervous but his alibi was like “my dad may have been drunk when he sent those red packets” and sent the butler to pretend as his dad. Everyone and their parents really pitied him and sent the money back. Now everyone thought that his father is a no-good drunkard who sent the family savings to wechat on accident.

typing some more before I completely forget the plot of this one:

MC keeps on reprimanding ML that he should stop playing games at night and study. He doesn’t know that the only reason ML didn’t top the monthly exams is that ML was off participating in the International Math Olympiad. Prior to the exam itself, MC and ML had a bet, if MC scores higher than ML, ML will treat him to lunch for a few months? If ML wins MC will owe him a favor. During the monthly exam itself, MC had a lot of difficulty because he took off a year or something idk due to bullying? (I didn’t understand this part much). ML ofc took 1st place while MC took last place. Contrary to the summary, however, ML didn’t find out yet that MC is a rich young master. MC was so embarrassed because of this he hid from ML for a while lol, but they ended up apologizing to each other.

To improve MC’s grades ML gave him a love letter lol a.k.a. the ultimate reviewer that he wrote by hand and wrote everything must-know concisely. The other classmates were so jealous lol and wanted to photocopy it but ofc ML said NO. MC ended up improving his rank by a lot.

ML came to terms with his feelings much sooner, but MC’s inner conflict is so much more interesting. You can see MC fall for ML little by little until he finally admitted it’s to himself. MC felt that he wasn’t good enough for ML though, so he decided to confess only if he scores high in the exams. ML even made him a special lunch box to cheer him on. MC, however ended up skipping a 50 point essay wherein the topic is “a letter to your mom”, he couldn’t pick up the pencil due to past trauma. ML tried to comfort him, but MC felt really bad about his exams and felt that he wasn’t qualified to like ML. He felt that ML was so outstanding while he’s nothing but a rich kid with issues that cannot live like a normal person. MC ended up avoiding ML attempts to comfort him.

ML thought MC is avoiding him because MC found out about his feelings for MC. He resolved to stop liking MC and staying as just friends because he didn’t want to lose him. At this point I just wanted to hug them both.

MC comes to his senses when he overhears his classmates talk about how ML left the essay about mom blank. MC realize that despite ML’s own trauma, the first thing ML did after the exam is find MC. After this, MC ran to ML’s apartment to confess.

btw, before getting together MC actually confessed to ML that his father is President/CEO Qiao. ML then also said he’s the estranged son of the Xie family. Ofc both of them took it as a joke, and sometimes ML calls MC as Young Master Qiao.

some more spoilers:
After getting together ML called Lou Xiao out to eat so just so he can gloat that he and MC are finally together. Ofc Lou Xiao excused himself afterwards because he doesn’t want to eat dog food.

A few days after, the exam results are released. MC left his phone with ML when it was his turn to get his grades. MC’s phone buzzed and lots of SMS saying congratulations came in from his family, like promising to buy him a yacht and a car etc. MC was so nervous when ML told him he’s got a lot of texts but ML brushed everything off, saying that MC has such a good relationship with his family and how he loves that MC’s grandparents joke around with him.

ML actually looked up the Qiao family after this and ended up stumbling upon old news articles wherein Qiao Yi, the son of CEO Qiao got kidnapped for 1 year and they found him in the basement or smth of a crazy lady’s house only after the crazy lady died. ML ended up praying that MC is not Qiao Yi because he doesn’t want MC to have suffered through that.

Grandpa Xie’s condition is getting worse, so ML’s family has been cornering him and asking him to come back to the Xie house. They threatened him and revealed that joke’s on ML, even earning 10 mil in 1 year won’t allow him to escape the clutches of the Xie family. ML’s stepmom also started blackmailing him, (couldn’t remember if it’s because she wanted him to come back or was it something else, it’s not really important), then showed ML some pics from a private investigator wherein ML is having PDA with MC. Either way, ML has no choice but to act as a filial grandson.

MC’s mentality is getting better & better according to his psychiatrist because of ML’s tender loving care as well as with the help of his friends. MC is also getting more motivated to get better, but he still can’t enter the 3rd floor of the house where his mom’s things are located. His psychiatrist hypnotized him once during therapy he actually recalled some scenes in his childhood where he was playing in the garden of the Xie ancestral house. Papa Qiao heard about it and decided to look for an opportunity to visit the Xie house.

Eventually Grandpa Xie’s condition started getting better, & he held his b-day party and invited everybody important, so ofc MC’s dad is invited and brought MC along because this is the chance they were looking for. Papa Qiao and MC’s childhood friend warned him that the grandson of the Xie family has returned, and that he is abnormal lol, that he could get into Tsinghua and Beijing U at the age of 10 etc, and that he should stay away from the grandson at all costs because the Xie family is a mess.

MC and Papa Qiao arrive to the party, to MC’s surprise the one greeting guests at the door is ML, and introduced himself as the Grandson of the head of the Xie family. ML & MC acted like it’s their first time meeting each other even though they both got surprised. ML offered to escort MC around and since MC needs to wander around anyway to trigger any memories, Papa Qiao agreed.

After getting away from Papa Qiao, MC and ML finally fessed up on their secrets, there wasn’t any drama and they just came clean to each other and realized that their jokes were actually real. ML and MC were hugging when stepmom saw them and she was scandalized that ML had the gall to bring his bf to the party. ML took the opportunity to introduce MC to stepmom as his boyfriend... and as the heir to the Qiao family.

 

Got to love MC's family. They're so doting and caring. And they're right, ML's family is a mess. Still don't understand why the stepmother would want ML back. Most stepmothers would usually want the previous wife's children gone to make room for their kids. Hope ML successfully cuts ties with the Xie family now that he has MC and his family backing him.
