Hmm... so I wonder how this works NU policy wise. A new group picked up The Amber Sword. But the old one is still doing it but as publicly available drafts: https://www.patreon.com/SWolfie So are public drafts considered an active release for the 30 day policy? Or must they show up on NU as a release to count.
I sure hope it counts cuss from what I understand wolfie does a TON of rewriting work to make the story we understand as The Amber Sword come together. it would be hard for someone to continue on from this. that and they are already up to chapter 271 for free on the patreon and while they are marked as drafts, they don't read too much differently to wolfies posted chapters. not to take anything from the translator who just picked it up, I just have become used to wolf's version
Yeah, after reading Wolfie's translations, I don't think I could read another groups. He does so much cleaning up of the original texts.
Agreed. Haven't even opened the new translated chapters because I figure it will be a different story at this point. Might might support the new peeps if the start from chapter 1 and it's not plain MTL. Would be intriguing to see the differences.
So that's what happened. I was wondering why Wolfie stopped posting new chapters, but they were up on his Patreon channel? Huh.
But he did not do that much rewriting at all. Like we won't get a different ending - if we reach the final chapter anyway...
If you actually observe the translation of Wolfie and the normal translation, you could see the difference. Redundant words were cut off to make the reading smooth and the illogical parts were changed to fit the context of the scenario. Try reading the new chapters posted recently in Wolfie's patreon page and the new ones here on NU. Wolfie's translation feels like a Western author doing Isekai while the new one feels like the usual Chinese trope.
I think that wolfie should put a couple onto their website and get them back on Novelupdates. Still, they have proof of writing them for months so there should not be an issue. Tbh I didn’t realize Wolfie is still writing them since I am always on novelupdates If nothing else, I think novelupdates would give some more attention to the stories
Novel is looking like a poisoned chalice to me. I got a lot of requests to translate this. I wanted to because I read it a bit previously but controlled myself because its a Qidan novel
So the chapters on his patreon where free and no1 posted that link, in the last chapter he posted or the one where he talked that he did have some drafts on his patreon (the one most like me thought was not free), that was some bad mojo guys!!! BTW: https://www.patreon.com/SWolfie/posts thats the link
It's because if you actually payed attention to his posts, you would not have missed it. It clearly said that it's in his patreon and the pay wall was removed. I think it's only you who missed it.
"...Anyways, cutting the boring story short, I won’t be updating until the employee gets better and is back at work. My patreon has the latest drafts and updates. I will also be posting TSTBGAM drafts there in the future..." Thats what he posted and it should be obvious that his patreon is free ??? BTW: In that same post and the one from the last chapter how many people are asking for new chapters...weeks and months later....so i was for sure not alone!! (damn even people replying her thought it was not free or diden't know why wolf was not posting new chapters)
"A batch of chapters will be coming in soon, up to chapter 240. I have these drafts in my patreon (open to public), but I’m currently editing them and suggest that you wait for these chapters, which will all be posted before the end of the month." http://www.wolfiehonyaku.com/the-amber-sword-volume-3-chapter-229/ They have mentioned it before that their drafts in patron are open to the public. And this wasn't the 1st time they mentioned it. Just most people don't bother reading the notes. That isn't to say communication couldn't have been better of course (like a note in latest chapter), but it is what it is. The clues were there.
It's not Wolfie's fault why you and others haven't noticed it. Clearly you haven't even tried to check his Patreon page. Because if you did, you would have seen the chapters and read it.
