    when reading a novel, which pov do you prefer?

    i like novels that have both pov's bc it's nice to see what both mc and ml are going through and thinking. tho a lot of bl is mostly written from the uke's perspective it's nice to see a bit of variety w seme protag stories.

    I like both as well but I think I prefer the gong’s POV slightly more just because it’s more uncommon

    Both +over 9000 :aww::aww::aww::aww::aww:
    I love seeing both characters' perspectives. Why take only one half of the love and appreciation when you can have the whole thing (≧∀≦) it's great, incredibly so. My appreciation is off the charts :blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt:

    Doesn't happen all too often unfortunately but when it does, good god :blobokhand::blobxd::blobxd:

    Generally the Seme
    granted I think I will have more fun if its a Seme Reciever (Dominant reciever) whether it is POV or not.... but ESPECIALLY WAY MORE if its POV

    is there any smut like that?

    I prefer the shou, and spent a lot of time trying to place why, and then realised -- oh! It's because shous are usually so fucking annoying and unbearable and unlikeable that the only way for me to care about them is to have them the POV character. Most of them are too stupid to live. They would literally forget how breathing worked if you left them alone too long. I want to slap them. The comedic inner workings of their mind is literally the only thing keeping them bearable.

    Now, granted, gongs are often malicious, petty, spiteful rapists who objectify their boyfriends into objects they have complete right of control and ownership over, but I guess I just dislike the shous enough that I'm like "you can have him, nobody else would ever love this over-evolved blobfish".

    Yet I keep reading this trash genre. :blobpopcorn_two:

    Maybe just the reading material getting into your hands is trash. I can't argue though that most danmei seems to have a preference for the tropes you have mentioned, finding something different is a challenge.

    It's also not something unique to bl novels. When my poison levels are especially low and I decide to pick up a shoujo romance novel (usually CEO novel as the platform I'm reading on has a multitude of them, and I gave up on ancient setting ages ago) 95% of the time it's the same, recycled trash.

    I used to prefer the seme POV. I always read from the seme pov because sometimes reading from shou pov is just like reading nonBL novels. However, with so many novels from shou pov, it grows on me and I can tolerate it.
    Now, I like shou pov. I like their whinny and sometimes dump character. Althought I still prefer where both gong and shou are strong. That's why I love power couple.

    If there is a novel like that, I would love to read it. I think I only find it in manga. In novel (danmei) mostly both of them would be dominant.

    ohohohohohoho :blobjoy::blobjoy::blobjoy::blobjoy: daaaang big oof energy XD

    It was kinda opposite for me... as in: the abundance of shou pov novels made them boring to me and pushed me a bit towards seme/both pov. I'm fine with either but well... once sth is the vast majority, I frequently find myself focusing more on the stuff that's the minority to switch it up. Like when I was on a BL manga binge and read too much "strong overbearing seme - weak girly uke" stuff so for a while I exclusively searched for "tough/strong uke" manga XD

    Also, power couple ftw :aww::aww::aww:

    Anything that doesn't try to push weird ideological narratives that make the character seem like a piece of fragile masculinity.

    I don't think that I have a favorite... that being said I also never read a seme POV. I've been looking for something in this style. I'm very curious to see the difference, what I mostly want to see is the POV of a bossy seme like that common OP (aka Ling Xiao from LMW).

    I just dislike multiple pints of view, is just too messy for me.

    Uke PoV. Most of the time i really don't understand the seme's thought processes from their actions and frankly i don't want to? :blobsweat:somehow i tend to identify w the ukes so i like to read from their pov when you don't exactly understand the seme's thought processes or motivations, because this keeps you guessing~
