This sounds a little like One Man Army. I don't remember anything about the MC of One Man Army having a Bodyguard friend, but everything else sounds like it fits. The secret is that the Guild Leader of the MC's Guild (the MC) is also the only member of said guild, despite having half a dozen in-game alias.
