    Depends on how good the author is at writing romance, in a lot of stories I can't even tolerate one love interest, let alone multiple.

    Yup. Romantic scenes should be entertaining or else they shouldn't be in the book. Hence all the characters in a harem should have interesting relationships or else there's no reason for them. This isn't easy to write and someone who isn't good at it will just have said harem drag down their book.

    I can't agree with this. I like good female characters, and this just seems like an excuse to not have to write them.

    I didnt say zero female characters, just zero love interests.
    I enjoyed Ye Zhen in Sword Dynasty and had to defend all the negative reviews that it got.
    Watching a character fall into madness like Li Mochou is just beautiful to watch
    The actress also did a great job
    I am considering watching the most recent Heaven Sword and Dragon Saber but I think its hard to top Ady An from Chinese Paladin as Zhao Min

    Sure it's possible to write a good female character without any romance. But generally, if a writer doesn't have the guts to write a romance, he's probably not going to be able to write female characters well either.

    I read pretty good reviews for the actress playing Zhao Min

    I don't tend to watch Legend of Condor Heroes adaptations and I only watched the first few episodes of Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre. Those episodes were okay but I'm not convinced the director knows what he's doing.

    Not a fan of Guo Jing to be honest, so I usually skip the first book's adaptations
    The actress usually plays supporting role, I think this was her first major role.
    I dont really care for the plot since I already know it. I am more interested in individual performances from the actresses.
    A Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre with Zhou Zhirou getting a bigger role will be nice.
