I find slow life light novels interesting.
Unlike manga and anime that can supplement the story with great art and music.
Novels have to rely on the story (And sometimes with illustrations)
There are many times when I pick up a novel and really enjoy it, only to get to chapter 110 where the MC has to choose what to decorate their house and just drop it then.
An example of that would be "The man picked up by the gods".
I really liked this novel and got pretty far but I got tired of it and jumped on a new thing.
Ok so now that we got all that out of the way we can ask the question in the title.
When do slow life light novels work?
What can they do to keep readers interest till the very end?
Do you have any examples of novels that succeed in doing this?
What are they? and what did they do that made them so interesting to you?
You can also post times when slow life novels fail and stuff about them that you don't like.
I'd love to hear your opinions :blobpopcorn:.

    Imagine a slow-witted person reading a slow-updating slow-life novel slowly... :blob_coughblood:

Mostly, the translation speed of the translators. if it is slow and the releases are slow too, that works against it.

For me, never. Slow life novels are either lies, as even though the MC wants a slow life, he doesnt get it because there are enemies everywhere, or they are packed with a harem, which I dont enjoy.

A great example is this manga I read where the MC wanted to be a farmer because he has a bad disease. So he gets reincarnated or whatever and start to make a farm in a forest. Ok... But around 20 chapters in and I knew what this will be. Now, at his farm, there is about a hundred women that want him. Lets not forget the fact that he is the only male on the farm (now Village). So he is unreasonably loved by every fucking woman he met. Quite bad.

Slow life light novel work best if they have <100 chapters.

I agree, if it goes on for too long the author will run out of ideas and we'll get an arc about the MC doing their taxes or whatever

What's exactly this slow life? An author that spent 30 chapters for one problem? Or a loly-gag MC who didn't have a real objective?
