My bruh once asked me " Hey fam y jns aint as lit as cns? Y are they so shit?" And i answered him. "Well ya retarded harambe, its because all the good ones are licensed, or too hard to translate". And thats when it hit me. Is japanese harder to translate than chinese? Cuz i am studying japanese at the moment and i dont see anything whic would make it soo hard to translate.

Japanese has grammar. Chinese is mostly words stuck together.

Chinese should be more difficult, as the logic it operates under is too different to what english speakers are accustomed to. And most of the things that make japanese hard, save the 3 writing systems, are also present in chinese.

Learning both languages is equally difficult for a foreigner.

I can going to say Chinese is harder just because they don't have an alphabet like Japanese kana or Roman languages. Chinese is harder to translate due to needing to know so many different characters compared to languages that rely on a alphabet. Japanese does use a lot of Chinese characters but they also have an alphabet that makes it easier to understand (unless you get into homophones, then you need the Chinese characters to understand)
I have no understanding of Japanese or the 200+ different dialects (pretty sure they are languages) of Chinese, so take my comment with a grain of salt.

they both use an archaic and idiotic writing system. Japanese just has more grammatical logic to it then Chinese.

My sister took Chinese in high school and Japanese in college, and she thought that Chinese was harder--mostly because of the intonations. She already knew a good amount of kanji because of Chinese, so she didn't have an opinion in terms of reading difficulty.

As someone who only knows Japanese, I'd say that Japanese is most likely easier for learning how to read. Having 3 writing systems seems harder, but it's a whole lot easier to learn kana than it is to learn kanji (i.e. Chinese characters).

Translation seems difficult for both, since both are so different from English. I've personally had a lot of trouble translating JP->EN...enough that I've given up on making my translations legible for anyone who doesn't know a decent amount of Japanese.

I had a harder time with Chinese when I was younger but I barely use either now so I don't know if my opinions count.

Learned both chinese (mandarin) and japanese.
Here's a statistic to help you understand
On japanese final exam, i scored 36 out of 100
On chinese, i scored 9 out of 100
    So, yeah.
Japanese said that kanji are hard. Chinese use kanji everyday.
Moreover, different accent would means different thing on chinese
    Chinese is hard.

If we see it from learning purpose, chn might be harder.

But if we see from mtl perspective, chinese language is easier. Mtl didn't work too well with jpn grammar
