Korean BBQ is one of the godly cuisines blessed by Korea. Although it costs a huge chunk of my income, it is one of my guilty pleasures. Besides that, having KBBQ with family and friends is a good way to maintain social interaction and deepen bonds (and get your friends fked upppp) The following are 5 positions usually needed at your table for KBBQ success: 1. Cook Central seat, a coordinated player who is willing and able to cook, cut, and distribute properly to everyone on the table. 2. Fire Control Edge seat, has close connection to the cook. Needs to actively maintain the flame to maximize cooking time and minimize smoke during downtime. 3. Orderer Side seat, shameless yeller who dgaf about flagging down an ajumma to remind them what they forgot. Knows the correct order of meats to request and understands preferences at the table. High bonus points for being Korean. 4. Enforcer Is everywhere, makes sure that everyone is drinking enough soju and eating their fair share. Promises that this will be the last shot but deep inside you know it's not true. Often not even at their seat if you have more than one table. 5. Disposal/Trash Can sit anywhere, designated eater who's there when everyone needs them the most. A black hole with no end in sight, at the table for inspiration and to finish the mistakes everyone made in over-ordering last round. 6. Leecher/Parasite Sits close to the Cook. Doesn't contribute to anything at all and only waits for the meat to finish cooking. I am usually the leecher/parasite in gatherings~ unless I'm eating with newbies, then I literally play the role of the cook. Have you tried kbbq before? If you do, which role did you play? As bonus, I have included some beautiful mouthwatering pictures below Spoiler: Click to see heaven
Haven't tried KBBQ, but when I get the chance to do so, I know I'm gonna choose trash and/or leech. I wonder what that says about me... ?
Tbh, im the cook, fire control, and the disposal lol. Ill cook and make sure i dont burn the food, but at the end of the meal i have to make sure all the meat ordered are eaten, so usually ill be the one that has to finish last minute orders that no one wanted but ordered anyways
Enforcer. I'm usually the one making sure stuff gets passed around, everyone has what they need and drinks are topped off. Don't eat it often unless I go over to my friends' house since the quality of the kbbq places in my city are average at best.
I'm the eldest son/male of the family (dad passed away 2 decades ago) so, ofc, I'm the orderer. I flag the 'ajumma' whenever we run out of meat or need anything else (tissues, condiments, etc.). Absolutely not korean.
If with family I'm the leech or cook If with friends hen I'm either the order, enforcer, cook or all three combined Really depends on who in my friend group is with me but usually I'm cook regardless
I am 7. Poison Tester, I look at what looks to be the best tasting ones poisoned. And suffer for everyone by trying it first. An under appreciated job if I do say so myself.
Number 4, enforcer. Though, I'd be doubling as number 5, trash xD (Havent ever had any korean bbq, so this is a hypothesis)
I'm always the cook. You gain the privilege to eat more than others because you did the most work. And you'll gain bonus point in your social hierarchy because people will think that you're hardworking and dependable.
Too broke. But if I wasn't I'd be a cook, I cook for my 5... 6? I cook for my roommates regularly because I enjoy cooking and also I can slam out a mean meal of many different ethnicities. I oughta get some Korean recipes, right now I'm getting practice on Tonkotsu Ramen (like, full in all out homemade chashu pork and broth and all)
i have my own grill and stove for that. i have a non stick grill grate for my portable butane stove that I can put on my kitchen table. oil drains to the side to be caught by a bowl.
I’m the cook, I absolutely refuse to let anyone else touch the meat. I’m both confident in my cooking skill and love cooking.
As i am Korean, I drop by my mom’s to beg for Burgogi and Garbi. Always successful. You may all hate on me now.
