Recommendations Novel of any genre (except harem) with lots of banter

Hey there~ I just finished reading this novel where the characters joke around a lot, particularly the MC. He's really quick-witted and clever; add shameless and gutsy to the mix and the things he said often made me burst out in surprised laughter as a result. In fact, most important characters with some amount of brains have at least a few funny lines somewhere.

The novel's called Spirit Hotel
Here are some examples of the banter. Unfortunately, I don't remember all too well so I just went back through the chapters and picked some out. They're naturally a lot funnier in context but I hope you get what I mean

[they're meeting bad guy behind the scenes figure Mani]
Mani kept his expression well controlled and slowly replied. “Mister Shi, it is truly as they say– hearing of your reputation is truly no comparison to meeting your person.”

Feisha said, “Actually in your honor’s case, I think hearing of you is better than meeting you directly.”

“Why so?” Mani smiled very gently.

“Because I’ve always felt that you should have been just a little more good-looking.”

“….”

Feisha continued in a most sincere tone. “Really, I’ve always thought anyone that ends up being the big boss shouldn’t be too ugly.”

Mani’s smile twitched. “Am I very ugly?”

Spoiler: A longer one. Their wits totally failed them lolol

[In this situation, Gin is more or less forcing Feisha to seduce Isefel by offering ice scream and stuff. They're next to the pool in front of Isefel's room, waiting for him to go out]
The door to Isefel's room suddenly opened.

Feisha's heart skipped a beat and he instantly pushed Gin to one side.

*Splash*

Gin answered by diving into the water.

Feisha stood before the door and prepared himself for battle.

After waiting for quite a while, the door was still only half open yet there were no sounds of movement inside.

A splash of water sounded. Gin poked his wet head out of the water and anxiously looked at him, "Is he here? Is he here?"

Feisha suddenly nervously cried out, “He's
coming."

Gin ducked back down into the water with a splash.

Moments later Feisha sighed, "It doesn't seem like it's him."

Gin once again carefully poked his head out.

"Ah!" Feisha suddenly shrilled.

Gin swiftly disappeared from sight.

Feisha said, "There's a fly."

"..." Gin angrily resurfaced, "You really are."

"Ah!" Feisha quickly turned around.

"Do you think I would fall for the same trick a second time?" He coldly hummed and turned his head. His gaze just so happened to meet that of Isefel's.

The atmosphere stagnated for approximately
three seconds.

Gin sported a huge smile on his face and calmly greeted the other person from within the water, "Haha, what a coincidence, who would've thought I would meet you in a place like this?"

Feisha ferociously glared down at him through the corner of his eyes. There were so many excuses you could use to smooth over a bad situation, did you just have to choose the worst one of them all?

Isefel's gaze shifted onto Feisha's face.

Feisha instantly presented him with the ice
cream and asked in a fawning manner, "Would
you like to eat the spoon?"

"..." Gin was too lazy to even ridicule him.

Isefel looked at him blankly and then took half
a step back before shutting the door.

As soon as the door closed, Feisha instantly began to run. Gin rushed out from the pool and started chasing after him whilst shaking off the water. He babbled loudly, "You 'spoon eater'. You 'spoon eater'!"

Feisha ran as he shouted back, "You 'what a coincidence. 'Coincidence'!" Because it was too tiring to run, his language was quite simple.

Spoiler: And another one~

[Feisha and Isefel are about to depart for a vacation of sorts, the others saying bye. Feisha is wearing that weird outfit cause jealous Isefel gave him hickeys all over his torso so he wouldn't expose it in beach areas xD]
Feisha was wearing a high-collar sweater on his top half and beach shorts on his bottom half, standing delightedly on the platform and waving to everyone, as though he was an important general going to a campaign.

Gin asked Isefel in a very small voice, “This outfit is acceptable?

Isefel raised an eyebrow.

Gin snapped his fingers. “Gotcha.”

Feisha squeezed over, “Gotcha what?”

Gin mimicked Isefel and raised an eyebrow.

Feisha suddenly understood and said: “Gotcha.”

Gin asked curiously: “Gotcha what?”

Feisha also raised his eyebrow.

Gin: “…..”

I really enjoyed it and now I want moaah

It's listed as harem, but there's no romance.
It's a subversion of the whole OP/clueless MC genre, and since it's JP, it's all banter ... you know the writing style.

Was gonna suggest Virtual World: Peerless White Emperor, but you have it on hold in your reading list. Not entirely sure why you did, but the banter is hilarious in my opinion.

Edit: I just read all those examples and actually started crying and slapping my knee. Okay I have to go back and read that novel again.

 

Not sure if it is chatty but it does gives you surprised laugh often, To Be a Heartthrob in a Horror Movie I'm currently reading this

 

Just thought of more novels that might fit your "banter" requirement.
Generally they tend to be modern day, internet (game) related novels, since that's where witty social media memes, play-on-words, etc thrive. The raw CN text conveys better meaning, but the translated versions aren't too bad either.
