Poles! Perhaps one of the most diverse and exciting word in the English language is the 'pole'. It is the one magical word that by the simple use of it, can invoke feelings of insignificance, superiority, desire, greed, anger and rivalry. It is that one word that can turn friends into foes, families into a boxing match and women to cheat on their husbands. In English, 'pole' falls into many grammatical categories. It can be a noun, such as "We're bringing freedom to the Poles." or "This pole is not that tall." It can be a verb, such as "I'm gonna pole you hard, bitch!" It can be an adjective, such as, "He's as tall as a pole!" Additionally, it can be used in a noun substitution, such as "His pole is very black, wide and long." A pole is often used as an adjective to describe 'tall' or 'long' but it is not always so. A half-pole is considered half of a pole, which is quite short, in case that's not descriptive enough. A short pole is a shorter pole than a pole. And no pole means the pole doesn't exist, no matter how much the liberals want to say otherwise. Pole can also be used as part of a word, such as a 'polearm' which is the bastard child of 'a pole' and 'an arm'. There is also 'tadpole' which is the bastard child of 'a tad' and 'a pole', which together means 'small pole'. The more commonly used form of pole is 'poledance' which has nothing to do with a pole coming to life and dancing the jazz. It is instead where a person swings themselves around a pole in a similar fashion to merry-go-round, but with the purpose of wearing less and less clothes as the poledancing continues. Similarly, 'poleaxed' is the pleasurable art of being 'poled with an axe'. Pole is often mispronounced as 'pull' or 'pool', both of which are completely different things. 'Pull' refers to the act of 'not pushing'. 'Pool' is the act of getting into the water half naked (or completely naked) with people you may or may not want to pole with. Due to its versatility, pole is also often confused with poll, which is the act of throwing your vote into an unfeeling box made of cheap materials which for some reason has a lot of say in whether or not you pole someone's ass or someone else's ass. A pole is not a poll, and it should not be treated that way. If you think it is the same thing, then you're either dyslexic or Mexican. Despite all its various and versatile uses, pole has surprisingly seen only minor use in popular culture. Remember, polling someone can get someone else in trouble, while pole-ing someone can get you in trouble, but it's definitely worth it. So be safe and may you pole in a reasonable and safe manner.

Yes. Ai-chan didn't include north and south pole for a very simple reason. They are very disappointing.
"I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole" Also, "pole dancing" by itself isn't about having less on as it progresses, but it is in fact a variation of it. If we were to go on a rant about the variation, then we would have to mention malls, comics, lanyards, etc.
