So... I live in singapore, and I think there are over 30 cases of nCov2019 here right now. and a lot of people are panicking. Stocking up on surgical masks, hand sanitizer, wet wipes, and food. Some people are taking advantage of the chaos to sell some of those supplies at hiked up prices to make a quick buck. pictures of empty supermarket shelves are circulating online. adults buying noodles and rice in bulk. I guess its normal for singaporeans to be kiasu(scared of losing) and kiasi(scared of dying) but isn't this a little too much? why not spare a thought for those who will have higher risks of the disease due to the fact that they cant buy masks because of the hoarding people who buy 10 boxes of masks at one time when there is already 5 at home from the previous haze? i was born during the sars period, so i don't know how severe it was at that time, but judging by the fatalities in china as of now, I will think of ncov2019 as more severe...(correct me if I'm wrong) everyone is panicking, but some people are acting over the top about their panic. in truth, I'm a little worried since there are cases of spreading without going to china, and a school of my friend's has a teacher with the virus. a lot of people don't want the virus to spread further since it largely inconveniences our daily lives and there goes our orientation as new students. but at least I worry in moderation. I may understand the feeling of wanting to hoard, but I wish those people would spare a thought for others more... I hope we can quickly eradicate the virus soon because it's getting really inconvenient...
frankly, face masks doesnt really help with nCoV, and with the panic buying its human nature to secure oneself and family first than worry about other people... well during sars era it was more severe in my country but none of these panic, i guess the media made it more big and than it should be, in regards to people being more "paranoid" Edit: i dont know other word for paranoid , that thing that makes people hysterical
you know, when there was a rumour that Tencent accidentally leaked "the real number," https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3871594
Just go full 1000 IQ https://nypost.com/2020/01/30/chinese-citizens-create-makeshift-coronavirus-masks-from-fruit-bras/ China will eradicate all the whistleblowers first then eradicate the infected people next
just put an air filter directly in your breathing duct and you'll never have to worry about anything getting down there again.
You are one hell of a clown if you believe the numbers that China tells you because I am pretty sure the deaths are even more than the 500+ the media tells people. They are like retarded arrogant young masters that only care about 'face'
While I'd love to criticize such behaviour, if faced with the situation the OP described, I'm not confident I wouldn't do the same.
Corona is less severe than sars, like 5x less severe in terms of fatalities. Overall, like many of such viruses, the ones at most risk are those with underlining health issues and the elderly. Part of the problem is late response in wuhan and lack of supplies/staff to handle the outbreak. Outside of the major areas, fatality rates are even lower.
https://bnonews.com/index.php/2020/02/the-latest-coronavirus-cases/ 34.000 confirmed case 700 deaths (even more not reported) 6.000 serious/critical conditions 27.000 suspected case (there should be more but they are in the incubation periods so unrecognizable) all this in less than 2 weeks.....yeah the issue with this virus isn't death, but the rate of infection...once it's spread is a pain for you or anyone else near you. Even if you recover there still risk to be infected again because it's fast spreading.... + china shitty irrensponsible governement that suck not surprised people it's in panic https://maphub.net/Fuuuuuuu/map even most countries had to block airplanes to/from china....
from what I know, the coronavirus is transmitted by body fluids such as saliva. the logic behind masks is that it prevents fluids from flying out of you if you have the virus, and to protect you from stray saliva flying into your nose and mouth. however, if you use your hands to touch your mucous membranes, face etc, the virus will spread either way and your mask will be redundant.
I'm not saying that I believe what everything china says but the uncertainty of the information scares me. People can do anything because of panic.
nope, it's from water droplet and mucose....witch include the vapour you breath out, so people who cought should wear mask to stop "some" of those virus from spreading around at the same time those who wear the mask is to avoid breating them as much they can....
It seems kinda over blown. Just more worried about Chinese citizens since this gives their government to detain "sick" people.
Wow, wtf. Also, I sort of understand the hoarding mentality, be glad that S'pore has not experience mobbing or lynching.
I'm not saying you believe it but maybe it sounds like I'm insulting you because of my wording. Sorry about that.
The panic is mainly them over thinking useless things and forget fundamentals. One of the most important tips is avoid overly crowded areas. The hoarders at supermarket doesn't count? "Basically the same disease" is kind of misleading, they come from different families. Flu vaccine is cited as not working for the virus.
