It's a similar scenario to Why I Became an Angel, a visual novel about love and angels. I'll lay down the pros and cons about becoming a grim reaper. Pros You are immortal; you will never age or die in a conventional sense, unless you exchange roles with someone else. You are transcendent, thus, the physical world cannot perceive or interact with you easily. You are able to decide who is or are to die, how they die, and when they will die. Cons You are forced to roam around the world until the last human dies. You cannot interact with your former humans and you cannot interact with the world without possessing someone with permission. You cannot pick just anyone to die, because there are requirements: karma accumulated, causality after their death, and quota. You can decide their deaths if only their karma warrants death. That is to say, you are causing their deaths by affecting the causality of the event of their deaths. You cannot let significant humans die without the proper amount of karma that warrants their death. Their karma can be accumulated from the evil intents of humans on them or from them, and dangerous environments surrounding them which likely can cause their deaths. You cannot let millions or billions of humans die without the proper karma warranting their death. Basically, you increase their probability of dying than outright killing them. You can influence their surroundings by using death energy. Death energy is harvested from the dead or places of ruination. A lack of death energy will not allow you to possess objects or interacts with objects easily, nor possess humans. There are also other grim reapers like you roaming around the world or beyond it. Grim reapers cannot reap each other, but they can harm or interact with each other. Possession includes the human body, shadows, or objects with strong karma attached to the reaping target.
you'd be so fucking busy, what's the point. I'd want vacation days to play videogames and read books. you give me that and I'd be down for immortal but having to work
Interesting human-centric question. The Earth is constantly blocking photons from the Sun, so there's a great chance it's casting a shadow somewhere very far away. The shadow would be Earth's, so I would technically not be leaving it. I like this loophole. So I can possess the whole Earth, then. After all it's an object, and every death that happened on Earth has happened on Earth. I like this loophole too.
if i can still read or enjoy cultural entertainment such as games, anime, VN, Novel. then it's a yes don't really care if i'm alone. But if no and all you do is observing human with a special condition if you want to interact then no, that's just empty you will lose your personality in a few hundred years.
That's what you call the nighttime side of the Earth btw. The darkness of the night is literally the Earth's shadow. That means you're effectively the ruler of the night, which makes sense as the grim reaper. I still wouldn't be willing to be the grim reaper tho. There's almost 2 deaths every second happening around the world and it's not just gonna take a minute or two to settle each one of them. Granted you can stop time, that means the average day for someone else would last hundreds of days worth of yours. You'd have to work for more than a century just to get to 2021 from now. You're immortal, sure, but is life even worth living at that point. Even if you could enjoy entertainment, you'd have to wait 100 times longer than the normal man for updates, in between your tedious, repetitive work no less.
might be ok for the first year or so. but imagine living forever and never being able to have a relationship. that would be like my current life but longer and who would want that!?
Nonsense about "Ruler of the Night", more people die during the day than at night! lol. In short, you're working permanently day and night! You better hope your work contract pays by the hour or you're screwed!
I believe this is where the part about there being other grim reapers comes into play so it's not just you doing all the work
It n It was never stated that you had to actually do anything. Eternal servitude definitely would deserve to be in the con list if we did.
