Usually yeah, you can do it later tough. Mostly because you need to find out who is the mafia or act like that, by reading old post, asking around and judge who are not on your side. In mafias case, don't be found out and kill the townies.

eh. mafia games, everyone should aspire to be town. mafia is the enemy. ARSON yer a newbie, so i suppose I might give you a pass... but it almost sounds like yer saying ya aint town. then again, in my first game i was suspicious as all get out
I was gonna say, if he is town then what's the problem in claiming his *general* role? Not specific role of course. Only krakens will ask the specifics, pr pr vanilla town or whatever ... Well @Lurking actually makes a bit of a sense too.
Yeah, most of the people here are a town, they have to vote on the mafias to kill them and then win. Some townies may have night powers, they can either protect or harm someone, but it's important they don't get killed the mafia and only themselves knows what they are. If you are a mafia, you want to kill all the townies to win. They can at least kill one person each night, in daytime it's best if they can kill more townies without being found out. Once found out, they get lynched. True thing Eh... I'm kinda confused, should I be worried?
In mafia most things don't make sense initially but that's how we start making sense out of it by questioning the things that don't make sense? I mean I found you suspicious for asking him to hide his role but then if that was your intention, then it would have contradicted what you said
