So I am liking this story so far, but one thing that's really worrying me, Is I'm starting to see the future possbilites of a Polygamy story, and I don't like it. There the "Highschool Love" who he lost in the past life. There's the Princess turned Queen who he owed his Life, and now there's the Sword Saintess who should be dead. At least for the first two, both are very strong connections from his "past" life, and I can't really tell Who he'll end up with in the end (or even if either). Does this end up with a "I can't pick, so why not both" situation?
I wouldn't bet money against it. That said; Up to the current translated chapter, the romance is just a subplot. No development. Oh, I think some girls have hugged him. Multiple girls, even!
Hugged as in the next step you take things to after hand holding. The hugs weren't really reciprocated by the MC, though. He was too surprised. Every time.
Everything's fine, and they truly are subplots at this moment. Glad to see that you enjoyed my recommendation, but for now it's gonna be a wait and see. Who knows, maybe the Impartial Goddess will get in on the action?
I’m considering picking it up and am scared of the same thing. Too many harems go pretty well early on, then suddenly drop all character development or even whole characters that aren’t important anymore. Many either suddenly become non-polygamous (I prefer this, but it is still a real copout for an ending). The rest seem to have the girls all competing over a dense guy. “X did Y with Z, so I must too!!” Spoiler: “Realism rant for a minute” The thing is, if we’re taking this seriously as a romantic option, the relationship is as much with each other as it is with the dude. The fighting the harem novels devolve to are like elementary schoolers tussling over candy. As a woman, I stop being interested if the guy doesn’t like me. If he liked me and another woman and couldn’t choose, I’d feel distaste or even disgust. As for men who are with other women, completely off the table for me. Who wants to be a third wheel?? If it’s a society where women don’t have a choice, I’d simply reduce my presence and guard my heart. The husband would find a way to be happy somehow and so would I. I just want to read the plot and not have it turn into some weird divergent romance at the end.
Luckly, 2 of the 3 "Potential" FMLs (Other than the Saintess, but not seen much of her yet) have pretty good Character development so far even at about chapter 85. The first could use some flushing out more, but she's got a lot of room to grow as well. They actually feel like important side-characters, instead of the background love intreset that a lot of Chinese stories end up turning into. However, like I said, I'm still worried as to where it will go. Right now he's strongly leaning towards the 1st, but he has a strong connection to the second from his past life, and she's a poweful ally for him.
Yeah,i agree thats why i usually avoid novels that make things take so goddamn long to happen beetwen the harem
Y'know, I'd understand if it was just one love interest and not a harem. Cuz once they make the romance work between the OTP, they'll have to forget about using it as a filler later. But, harem, they should've been loads of women by 1700 or so chapters
