Hey guys, I haven't been using my NU account in the slightless so i though i should start doing it at some point. Well, something that has been on mind for a while it's how many of you are willing to read a novel for the story and not for stuff like "the genre is popular so i will read it" or so.
P.D. : By the way i have tried to make a pick up request but they told me i need to 5 five posts to make one with a link. So this i'm writting here it's a post or not?

    I’m pretty sure it’s a post :cookie:
As for novels, I read the story and ignore the genres mostly :blobwhistle:
Well, I read the plot summary wrong word the synopsis, if it’s interesting sounding I read it, I might glance at the genres then give up because they look annoying :blobsalt:

Post like that and replies here will count.

I always read a novel after reviewing the synopsis and reviews. That's how my latest novel is Isaac and not these other 100+ new novels coming out.

Aside from that I bookmark novels that may be of interest but only around 10 chapters available. I never commit to a new novel too early. It's too dangerous, unless the translator is reputable for their consistency and won't be dropping (The translator for Isaac for example).

Had I been the type to try a genre just cuz of its popularity, I would have been drowning in yaoi... so, NO. :blobpeek:

I think most of us read the novel for the story and not for the genre but there is an exception. I'm looking at you people who read Against the Gods. Going back on topic, most of us (I think) will drop a novel when it destroys suspension of disbelief or is too outlandish in that it alienates its audience.

Reading a book because the genre is popular and not because you like the story is like going for surgery because it is popular and not because you need it.

No one can tolerate a story they dislike for long.

The descisional factor for me is the plot, I won't read something just because the genre is popular

Always read the novel for the story...
If you don't even like the plot even if it's really popular, why bother reading it though..??

I don't discriminate on what genres to read(except yaoi)
Why the hell would someone read a novel because of its genre? Just because xianxia is popular doesn't mean I will waste my brain cells reading shitty and generic xianxia novels(I already wasted enough braincells reading trash)

Don't hate those pitiful souls. They are probably sick with Shitty Xianxia Stockholm Syndrome. They know they are reading absolute trash but they can't stop because stopping means they acknowledge that the time they wasted reading such a massive, steaming pile of shit was all for nothing

It’s like 100 percent of all Xianxia novels are copy-past of each other

Just read the novel based on your preferences, I like a novel with MC had his or her strength power-up through hard work, not because the sudden plot demand, I am looking at you Against the Gods.

Most of the readers are going for the genre, but only some would be so open-minded to read for the plots.

I sometimes envy those who can consume everything, because sometimes I just couldn't find anything good enough to read.
