animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2019-12-17/promare-anime-film-screens-with-english-dub-english-subtitles-in-japan/.154483: "The official website for Trigger and XFlag's original anime film Promare announced on Tuesday that the film will begin playing with an English dub and with English subtitles in Japanese theaters on December 20." When a company has the rights to do this, go ahead. Any thoughts as to why they are doing this? You know, screening an anime movie in both Eng. dub/subbed formats in Japanese theatres? I would imagine the appreciation for Eng. dubs for anime from native Japanese people or expats there is quite a small market.
It probably won't be a widespread release and play in a few selected theaters only just for the enthusiasts' sake. And if you assume [1500 yen per ticket] X [let's say 5000 people watch it] that is solid a 7.5 million yen (69k usd) with minimal effort.
