The birthplace of the English language. The conqueror of half the world. The people that started the industrial revolution. The country that created Australia by throwing all their criminals into that fictional continent. What else, people? Let's talk about England, because why the hell not? It's not like you have anything better to do. So what do you have on England? What trivia do you want to share? What gripes you want to air out? What about England do you want to diss? This is definitely not because Ai-chan's ex bf won the lottery. It is also definitely not because Ai-chan has no idea what to do in the two hours before Ai-chan goes to the night market.
A remark by Princeton professor Duncan Spaeth: I know why the sun never sets on the British Empire: God wouldn't trust an Englishman in the dark.
The English are nasty (this is what had been said by my English-teacher , Miss Sue). I know much (but not too much) about the English histories from the Norman era till the Victorian Era.. Ooh I really²² love English and England!! I know less about the Anglo-saxon cause I never read them before. Georgian and Victorian and the Renaissance are my favourite eras but Victorian the most. You know that the English were (and are) incredible. Many eras actually like the Anglo-Saxon, the Norman, The Tudor, The Renaissance, the Georgian, the Victorian, the 20th Centuries (include World War II) and more. I may miss some, ooh middle-aged too. The Victorian era starred at 1837 and ended at 1901 and it was so cool but the English were cruel. Most of the rulers were cruel and nasty same goes to the nobles. There are a lot and I remember about a history during the Norman, a nobleman a caught and brought to the court with his wife the little fairy and they asked his little wife the fairy as a witness (I can't remember the story well). And I love the war between the English and the French where the hero who saved France (Orlean) was Jeanne de Arc. She's my idol even though she'd died a long time ago. During the Victorian era, many authors wrote books and I love those books a lot. My favourite Victorian English authors are Charles Dicken, Mary Shelley, Edgar Allan Poe(an American), Charlotte Brontë, Brahm Stroke, and a lot. I'll stop here or it will be longer than two novels.
Tea. You can’t describe it without tea The weather’s also pretty difficult to predict. I think it’s because of the trade winds and Britain being an island. The north of England’s best described as cloudy, windy and damp, though.
England! The winner of two world wars! The genius that send many of it's bravest youth to galipoli cuz why the hell not! The bloodstained hand that let milions of indian died of starvation!
The country that led a crusade to end slavery around the world. Where a bunch of ideas about liberty that we cherish today were fleshed out and then exported around.
For some reason, I often find myself displaying an unnatural level of nationalism for being a part of the British commonwealth. The empire is gone at this point, so I dont see why I feel this way, but it's fun.
They have odd humor. Because of my mom, I grew up watching some of their old comedies.... and I suspect that there may be certain... 'side effects'. Nah just joking. W...s tea? W(you like some tea?) likW...youe some tea? .... Would you like some tea?
The UK is home to inventors who came up with: TVs, jet engines, world wide web, steam engine, ATM, vacuum cleaner....and many more. It's a pint sized group of islands but had a big impact.
