You cant fool me on this one

lots of good rating novels are tagged Yaoi and shonen ai

novels rated 4 and above are 95% solid rating that is a powerhouse which have no large plot hole or bad writing, yet a whole lot of them are tagged like the above

i have read some yaoi and shonen ai works too, solid novel:blobowoevil:

i have watch list lots of novels that are frequently updated, many series and good rating

    but but but

it is too much to read all from the same genre for the sake of good ratings

    no...

may be i am in the wrong to not able to appreciate the novels themselves

or there are too much shitty brainless MC novels and plotholes the size of my father's asshole going around NU

This. But there are good novels in other genres. Just remember ratings are completely subjective.

    Popularity really.

In my opinion NU should just make 2 tabs for the site. One for the usual NU stuff and another for them BL, Yaoi & Adult stuff then make that site orange or red themed (compared to NU's blue).

Hey at the very least the front page is less spammed. That's my goal for it really.

I've never heard any fujoshi grumble about reading only / too much yaoi. You, my dear OP, ought to emulate them. :blobpeek:

Because only a limited number read them.

They give it a positive rating only.

The poor ratings often come from people who never even read the book, so they may get defunct.

Why would BL and yaoi be lumped with Adult works? I've read more explicit het than I have explicit BL/yaoi. Also, you can filter what you see on the homepage by genre, tags, even translators

If I filter out stuff then I'll miss stuff. Simple as that. And that was just an example, doesn't mean I lump them together.

Or you could just use series finder for your preferred genres, rather than using the homepage?

This site is now literally flooded with BL - ever since I updated my options to not show updates with those tags, it made me realise how very little other genres are now in comparison to yaoi/shonen-ai novels (even yuri/shoujo ai is not that well represented).

As a huge fujoshi, I can only say that yaoi is the most important thing that keep us alive. We literally pass 99% of our time making ships and fantasies about men being (secretly) together XD

So maybe this is the reason why our authors are especially good at writing plots (and smutt ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) )
It is as natural as breathing ♡~

But yeah, jokes apart this should be the most likely explanation. I mean, as long as it is between males Fujoshis will most likely love anything, even if it is a story about a rock and a three making out x)

considering the number of novels out there, only the best and most popular get translated. As BL is still a niche, you have only seen the best ones yet. Wait till more of the shittier ones get translated as well.

Um, keep in mind the rating system is unreliable cause I highly doubt any of us is an actual literary critic. I basically give a 5 star if the novel was entertaining and I felt happy and excited to read it. I might even overlook a rushed ending (but it could drop the rating to 4 stars lol).

A good author will write a good novel, regardless of genre and demographic. I see that the market for BL is rather big, so I think some of those authors actually force themselves to write a BL novel (or their editors advised them). I mean, there was this one BL where the male MC and the male love rival both get pregnant with absolutely no explanation like ABO, mermaid lines, futuristic setting, absence of women in the world, anything. So I concluded it was a BG novel that was changed after it was finished and pumped out as BL. Oh, it wasn't particularly good anyway. No offense to people who liked it. My tactic is, if you can swap the male MC for a female MC, and nothing about the novel changes - be it the MC's character and behavior, or the relationships' dynamics, then it's not an actual BL.

There are some very decent BL zombie apocalypse novels tho, my favorite. I tend to read anything with zombies in it, but male MC's in novels meant for straight men end up disappointing me too much in most cases.
