Have any of you guys ever learned to speak Japanese? If so, can you guys share some advice? I'm thinking about picking up Japanese to learn in my free time. Anyone have any recommended methods of learning Japanese? Do you guys have any recommended online programs and such? I don't really care about reading and writing in Japanese, only wish to learn how to speak it and become a true weeb.
Weebs don't try to learn Japanese. The mark of a true weeb is to use the smattering of JP they hv picked up from JP media, sprinkle it generously in convos and, all in all, butcher the language.
try language apps. practice conversing by remembering words and phrases. if you are a beginer begin with romaji then learn words and phrases. then learn how to construct sentences japanese style. then learn how to write and memorize it. start with hiragana and katakana then search for other way to advance
Well, there's a big community on Reddit about learning Japanese, you'll find some great tips in there. I can't really help you because my method learning Japanese was pretty much focused on reading then listening with speaking being the last. That's true desu. Anata isn't a weeb if you actually study nihongo desu yo.
Oh you are very correct desu! I hontouni hope I don't meet any of those weeb desu! Aitsu no ningyen I daikirai! If I ever miru any of kono ningyen, I would definitely nigerundayo!
I self studied for years with little progress, but then I took a class for it and instantly got much better. I'd recommend going through some textbooks to learn grammar. Genki is a pretty good series, and I know for a fact you can find the pdfs on a reddit link.
For kanji learning i highly recommend wanikani, tho after level 3 its paying (just get lifetime instead of yearly, youre not gonna do it all in just one year). If you have visual memory it will help you recognize many kanjis and vocabulary in a small amount of time compared to traditional learning, though for writting youll need to do all the practice on your own. Just try the first free levels for free and see if the method works for you^^ though i gotta say i often dont like the mnemonics they use so i end up doing my own mnemonics. Theres also a big community there with many tips and even groups for learning at the same time as other people
For the beginning a actual school would be good. Together with that it’s good to see videos with both japanese and other/your language sub. After getting more proficiency begin reading simple japanese text and listen to song or movies without sub. Besides all that the best thing you can do is to search for someone who can Tal japanese and to study with them.
Look up some guides for it. Learn groups of words sentence-like from some topic like about hobbys, greetings.... It is on long term better to learn. Sentence like “Good day, how are you?” (etc) than try to build it with knowing the grammar. The point is you first learn the first words after this come the grammar part after that past and future it a long way ...
Prepare for it to take years if you don't crazy on it. Try learning hiragana and katakana early on, and then learn kanji slowly, there are too many of them.
im still learning it as my fourth language I use pimsleur audio which covers most basic terms used in everyday conversation and I bought a calligraphy book where I try and copy the letters of the alphabet and simple sentences when I get bored I change it up by painting with a brush instead of just writing. as someone said above try learning katakana and hiragana along with kanji all 3 are used in sentences in Japanese writing.
Watch Japanese drama and anime, read the subtitles while listening to what they're talking about..try to write down in your note about some Japanese words which you'd caught from any Japanese films together with its meaning...you can also download Japanese apps, I use aedict and it works well but you need to master both hiragana and katahana in order to read the kanji [I can't read most kanji up till now but can read some of them] I hope this will work and good luck to you
I don't have the luxury to learn anything productive for me. I'm currently on my self-destructive mode. *sees your last sentence* I recommend just go on an anime marathon.
