in my opnion if someone did not release in the last 3 months, they won't release again, this site is just "nice" and instead of saying that novel is dropped they say that is in hiatus, but no matter at is call it not updated novel in 3 months are not updated novel in 3 months, and when you check novel with the last update earlier than 3 months ago you only get completed novels or hiatus novels

Except there are groups that do release chapters again sometimes even after a 6+ month hiatus, though I feel that I've mostly seen that with japanese stories I'll admit.
No releases in 3months only mean that a translation is more likely to be dead, it doesn't automatically mean that it is, the only one that can actually decide that is the translator regardless of how long it takes him/her to release a chapter.

So, if a translator dies without warning, and no one among the family or friends decide to post about it in the translation site, the project is forever alive although the translator is dead?

if you don't communicate with the readers and give an understanding reason for such a amount of time without releasing noone needs to wait for the person if they also don't seem to care enough to inform people

Maybe this is just a thing with charts, or I'm stupid and don't get what "skewed" means in this context, but every time I saw left or right it was the opposite direction of what I expected going by the images.
Like in the above, it says they're "left-skewed" even though they're on the right side?

Mmm, good question! I was confused a lot too when I first knew about skewness!
A left-skewed distribution means having a long left tail. So looking at the chart you quoted, you can see that the distributions are tailing off to the left.

Not saying that the readers should care, all I'm saying is that a project is only completely dead when the translator has finally given up on it.
I'm not saying it isn't free for other translators to pick up the same novel either.

Hahaha, even if it's something everyone knows, I admit, my curiosity is piqued at the thought of seeing numbers. For example, daily releases vs weekly releases...

PS idk if I mentioned before but your graphs are damn pretty.

This is really cool, especially since I’ve been wondering about some of these answers myself! I’m off to read part 2 next, thanks for doing this.

And only less than 400 KR novels? I felt like I’ve seen a bunch and they all have memorable plotlines...guess that’s a testament to how solid they are with that average 4.0 rating!

    I beg to differ.
Scarcity just creates a false appearance of quality.

    Scarce shit is expensive
