Hello. I think I'm just a little weary from reading tilted english translations. I'd like some recommendations for translations that are done in natural english along the caliber of "Legend of the Sun Knight" or "Hako no Naka." They're wonderful and amazing stories with excellent translations. Quality I'd like to avoid are from groups like Creative Novels, Flying Lines, and Tapread. They're major translators but... it's not normal english. So you native level english readers, any recs? The only genres I'm not interested in are world-building ones that go in the thousands of chapters long. My attention capacity is about 500 chapters.
Thought this was really good (even though I thought the premise was a bit weird at the beginning), both the story and quality of translation. https://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-bathroom-goddess/
I was just wistfully thinking of Legend of the Sun Knight. Same author I see. And it's translated by PR. Thanks! That looks good. Thanks! Haha. Bathroom Goddess is hilarious. I had someone read it out loud to me and the odd english didn't matter at all. It was fun to listen to but hard to read.
Dominion's End is nice, but it has an incomplete translation. 4/6 volumes, with the raw ongoing. 1/2 Prince was also translated by that group, and is completely translated.
Sukasuka is really well done according to me. One Night, One Day, One Year, One Lifetime is really good but it's tragedy.
Mmm. I think I should try all the stories on PR. 1/2 Prince looks fun. I guess I was too slow to the game. The story is gone... Official release I guess. It'll be interesting to see how the quality is from Yen Press. One Night... is not quite the english quality I was looking for. Thank you though.
If you try Eclipse Hunter (PrinceRevolution has a couple of chapters translated), the first 4 volumes were completely translated (in good english) by OddSquad a long time ago. The website is gone but you can still read it all through The WayBack Machine. Use www.oddsquad.org for the url. Spoiler (I am absolutely sure of this since I was just rereading some chapters the day before yesterday. Somehow I always come back to Eclipse Hunter, even though I know that it is not objectively the best of Yu Wo's books, or even the one I would subjectively say is the best. ??)
*puts on thick skin* I try to localise my translations. Have one completed and four ongoing now, outside of NU.
