How did you discover Novel Updates?

    I stumbled on the road of life and fell the slippery slope all the way to NU.

    First, during a summer job my brother dared me to watch Naruto after tens of years of when it was cool.

    Then, I binged on that, Keroro Gunsou, etc. until I wanted more and went for manga.

    Third, manga started to run out and/or update too slow, heard about novels in some comment I guess, and started reading some of those.

    Then somehow for a long time ended up checking recent updates on NU main page.

    After that, if I remember right, I think Qidian and Gravity Tales or smth like that started to spam the main page (RIP Experimental Log of the Crazy Lich), and I wanted the filter/reading list options... which resulted in me signing up on some weak moment.

    The usual story of boy meets procrastination.

    Last chapter posted on Japtem were from 2017. Pretty sure it's a dead (or dormant) group now.

    I also remembered that I used to lurk the /r/lightnovels subreddit before they deleted all non-JP posts. The /r/noveltranslations subreddit was doing pretty well as a replacement until it got decimated by the patreon split.

    Used to use mangaupdates back in the day. Once I got into reading novels along with manga I went to this as well.

    I first found baka tsuki and afterwards somehow and in someway i reach novel updates. How exactly, i absolutely forgot.

    I have been reading translated novels for approximately 6 years and it all started with this site(novelupdates) and Tales of Demons and Gods.
    A colleague asked me to read Tales of Demons and Gods and once I searched it online, I found novelupdates.

    ... and the rest is history ...

    It's interesting seeing all these different stories of our first pilgrimage. :blobsmilehappy:

    Our trek to this holy land has been fraught with peril at each step. We have lost friends and made new ones on the harsh journey. Many of us have wandered off the righteous, corrupted by foul influences (aggregators), but not all of our brothers and sisters have fallen. The rest pushed onwards through truly horrendous storms that test our very virtues! BUT with our salvation in our sight, we've finally reached the promised land! :aww:

    P.S. Forgot to mention my own story. I wandered around blindly till I came upon the Utopia known as NU. I lurked for ages (1-2 years) before registering. :facepalm:
    P.P.S. Not really religious. None of the current deities appeal to me. NOW IF A BUSTY/FLAT GODDESS APPEARED BEFORE ME!!! That'd be a different story. :aww:
    P.P.P.S. As long as her traits of worship align with mine of course... :hmm:

    I loved SAO. Found out that it has a manga, read that. Found out that it has a novel(I was walking backwards ig), bought and read that. Then my friend told me that the novels are available online for free! And here we are. Been here for years... This place never gets boring...

    i had all these bookmarks to different novel websites i was reading at (still do, haven't removed them yet cuz i'm lazy) and it was super annoying to go through every one of them. i think someone mentioned novelupdates in the comments of one of those? It was pretty new back then

    Hmm, I don't quite remember
    I think I was just reading manga and know it has an LN so I searched to see if I could read it online, and so I stumbled upon Novel Updates
