Was a fun chapter. Confirmed 3 duchies have allied with Van. 1 hostile and Hartner leaning to joining hostile side. Katie is trying her best but it doesn’t seem good enough. Interestingly her uncle is on her side arguing against going against Van. Also Van has unleashed his guiders on the duchy of Jahan and says that Miriam and Zadiris aren’t fiancées like Kanako.

 

What kind of BLASPHEMY is this?!?

Finally the new chapter is out

Politics and exchanges are going wild but kind of well. Van isn´t agressivaly aproaching the duches, but peacefuly increasing his influence by whatever gap avaiable.

• Alckrem duche is fine since it is already a old allied/friend;
• Birgit duche whose majority is beast folk and Vida religion is the greatest and most widespread political force in it´s territory is going to fully support Vidal Empire.
• Fazon duche, whacha surprise, is going to avoid any diplomacy with Vidal Empire and any duche allied or friendly to it. Stupidly hostile, can´t wait for them to discovery Heinz is in Amid Empire and get some mud on their faces;
• Corbit duche: The duche of the current Elected King of Orbaum. Nothing was mentionated, but based on the king´s attitude and thoughts during the previous country emergency meeting it is expected to gradually welcome the political reform while keeping exchanges with Van Empire as fast and realistically as possible;
• Jahan duche: Majority is Ardaist and initially against the reforms, but not on the same level as Fazon, especially due to duke Jahan. He made a mild speach to calm the parliarment and introduced the emperor Van, also aproaching mildly, but bringing along Kanako, Zadiris and Miliam to interact with the nobles and make shows in the territory to guide as many people as possible
• Hartner duche: Lucas Hartner does intend to ally with Fazon. Urz and her uncle, Belton, go to talk to him - almost preaching - about NOT making a aliance with Fazon, since it´s meaningless: all neighboring duches are on Van side fisically isolating them, Sauron duche has the undead army inside former scylla territory and Rudel is powerless (also a question of time for Rudel be kicked out). Lucas will eventually realize Van involvement about the cultivation village´s matter and how screawup he is if he do not try to reconcille, apoligie and carry out reforms.
• Sauron duche: Vedal, Elizabeth half brother and Rudel´s representative in Orbaum, "stormed" inside Silky Zakkart Residence to beg loyalty and switch to Van&Elizabeth side. Contdown to Rudel duke´seat´s end has finally began.

It´s unknown what kind of stance the other 5 duches will take, but as long as a minimal cultural or diplomatic exchange is carried out, Van, Kanako, Zadiris and Milli guidance´tour across the country will broudly and quickly increase their influence.

Meanwhile, in Amid Empire... Good lucky, Heinz, in trying to guide the people of a extremist country you once abandoned to unite and stay by your side, kill and seal Vandalieu and make them accept the "Reconcilliation" you love to talk about.

Zadiris is more of a concubine because she doesn't view herself as fiance material, not because she doesn't want to be with Van. But she's also skeptical on whether or not marrying Van would actually help deal with her Princess curse since she's a Princess Guider and all.

 

I dunno if the author changed this bit of the chapter (he's made some fixes since posting) but Van only corrects to say that Miriam isn't a fiancee, ie that it's correct to say that Kanako and Zadiris are fiancees.

"The Dukes of the Turbulent Election Kingdom"

Quick recap of the events: Monsters appeared in the capital, Dark Avalon appeared in the capital, Van, the Five Colored Blades, and Randolf confront them, during the battle Guduranis is revived, the capital was completely destroyed, Van kills him, Vida declares Van a savior, then a bunch of undead, demons and new races of Vida show up and started helping with the orderly reconstruction of the capital: providing food, removing rubble, providing security for the refugees from criminals and other monsters, and so on.

For many in the capital, this is pretty much the most insane series of events in their lives. But outside of the capital... a lot of people haven't even noticed how big this was till days or weeks later. If you were in one of the villages surrounding the capital, you may have seen the huge explosion in the sky and damage to the walls, but since Van repaired the walls that day, and provided shelter for all the refugees, even people in the area don't know the entire capital was wrecked. Accurate High-speed communication isn't a thing. Even for nobles, you need to send messengers on horses who can take days or weeks to get a message across. (Remember how the Harpies in Orbaume actually provided massive economic gains to the Alchem region simply because of the fact they could fly messages and packages around?). And the particulars aren't getting out to the general populace until mercenaries, merchants, bards and so forth travel to a given town or city and start explaining what they saw. Of course the temples helped somewhat. Divine messages are basically a form of high speed communication, but they aren't accurate. Any message you get is basically highly dependent on the individual priests' understanding. They're just getting fragmented stuff like "The Demon King has been defeated!" Further, different temples are saying different things. The temples of Vida, Ricklent, Zuruwarn, Peria and Botin are all releasing messages like "today is a religious holiday! A day to commemorate one of the greatest events in 100,000 years!" and generally praising the heroes who saved the world and calling for celebration. In the Alda faction however, everyone is rather subdued... and lots of higher ups are suddenly disappearing.

Meanwhile, though the Orbaume king has made his decision about how to deal with Van and the Vidal Empire, the various dukes still have to decide on their own policies for how to deal with this third kingdom/empire on the continent. Sure, they technically have a system where it's up to the central government to decide foreign policy, but the capital and central territories can't exert their power to the outside regions while they're working on reconstruction and whatnot, the prime minister of decades who would normally be dealing with most of this is a criminal who helped Dark Avalon, and it's not like that's stopped individual duchies from doing all sorts of crap in the past anyway since only Amid was recognized as a "foreign nation" (Hartner Duchy and their betrayal of Talosheim. Fazon Duchy sending Heinz to kill the various hybrid homunculi who went to Garland, etc. ) ...That having been said, considering their emperor personally killed THE MYTHICAL DEMON KING, and there are large numbers of confirmed rank 13+ undead and new races of Vida among them, attempts to contain them with laws, let alone force, as has been done to non-human races in lots of territories in Orbaume in the past is just not possible. So the dukes and nobles are going to do what they normally do with each other: bribe them, create mutual interests, have parties to entertain them, make friends, marry into the family, and everything else to maintain their existing political power in the face of lots of others political groups. Some are even considering just straight up becoming part of Vidal down the road, considering their power, technology and so forth is massively ahead of Orbaume. "Better to serve in hell than rule in heaven?" (wait...)

The only rub comes from the fact Vidal has Vida races, undead, monsters, and demons. Orbaume has a lot of Alda believers, even a lot of the Vida believers don't know about the whole undead, monsters and demons thing, and thus they have to balance cozying up to Vidal with potential internal unrest among the citizens of their duchies. In fact, the Alda Temple and one of the dukes (Arbassa?) is already going around saying "They'll eat your men, and sleep with your women, and sacrifice your children to demons and evil gods! And turn your corpses into undead and souls into ghosts and curse you forever!" ( ) Tucker Alchem meanwhile just comes straight out and publicly announces their secret alliance with Vidal, including that one of his five guardians knights isn't dead at all, and the other one didn't lose any limbs either (but is she still wearing the possessed armor mech?). Considering that he was the one who gave Darcia her honorary noble position, everyone was already basically suspecting it, so might as well just use it for maximum positioning. The V-Cream, the transformation equipment, the high end prosthetic limbs, the idol concerts showing up in Alchem recently, they're all from Vidal! Also Alchem makes use of "Operation: Blame Everything on Avalon" by saying that he had to keep all this a secret because the prime minister was allied with Dark Avalon and Guduranis! Of course none of this is actually the case, Avalon was still on Origin and Terkatanis didn't even know about what was going on till like a few months ago, but it sounds believable enough, and no one is actually going to defend the crazy evil god that destroyed the capital and revived the demon king. Heck, they all want to blame everything on Terkatanis and Avalon too so them giving up their demon king fragments, and failing to properly defend their people, and everything else doesn't come back on them (as they decided in their last meeting a few chapters back: do whatever it takes to not shoot themselves in the foot)

Van and Vidal are also generally representing themselves as moderates. They only want the various races in their territories to have the same rights as humans. They haven't requested immunity from the laws that apply to humans, nor do they want undead, monsters and demons that attack people on sight in devil's nests or dungeons to be somehow protected (basically just like human bandits shouldn't be protected from being dealt with simply for being human). Which means that for most people, the Vidal Empire doesn't affect their daily lives in the slightest, and thus they don't really care. It's almost like everyone having equal rights has no negative effects on said rights for the people who already have them, while making other people's lives better, huh!

Unsurprisingly, the Birgit Duchy, which has a large beast person population, a group who historically has often been given less rights in Orbaume than humans/elves/dwarves, quickly joins behind Alchem in announcing their full support for Vidal and desire to open diplomatic relations, and sign a defense and trade treaty with Vidal. Interestingly, Asagi and co were also here researching counters for death attribute magic, so I don't know what the heck that means for them going forward. Duke Brigit is noted for being a realist, and Van doesn't really care what Asagi does (again, death-attribute magic is far from Van's only ability, let alone his true "cheat"), so maybe he'll continue his research there going forward. Also unsurprisingly, duke Fazon's territory, who is closely aligned with Heinz and the Alda harmony faction, closes it's borders to Vidal citizens, and will also break off relations with any other Duchy that has opened relations with Vidal. (Unfortunately for the current duke Fazon, Dediria the "Dark Saint" over in Garland is also a member of the Fazon bloodline with a claim to the duke seat, and has a lot of animosity with the duke after he tried to have her and the village she lived in massacred by Heinz. So I'm guessing we'll be picking up back on that plotline sometime soon. )

Duke Lucas Hartner unfortunately jumps onto Fazon's bandwagon despite Katie and his brother both basically screaming at him not to do this. It is pointless! You can't compete with Vidal in terms of military. Trade is a joke because you don't have a border with Fazon.. in fact your borders are: a) Sauron, where Vidal is occupying the Scylla autonomous region. b) Brigit, who is allied with Vidal. c) the Boundry mountain range, on the other side of which is Vidal. Lucas is torn himself, but they have the military and the Alda church to deal with (again, Alda church has a fairly large power base in Hartner thanks to the duke a few hundred years back being a devout Alda believer). Katie quickly points out that all the higher ups in the Alda church have vanished. (she's been using [Uror] to keep tabs on all sorts of things). Belton also tells him that the knights don't actually want to be in an antagonistic relationship with Vidal, and if he talked to each of them privately, they'd readily give him the same "we cannot fight these guys" assessment every other career military member in Orbaume, including Belton right now, is giving him. Eventually Lucas asks Belton and Katie to leave, at which point Belton tries to test out if Katie wants to ally with him to stop Lucas from doing this, only for Katie to say she isn't interested. She isn't interested in destroying her own father, and she isn't interested in what Belton's after, which is getting his son set up as the next duke. Katie, being a reincarnator, would rather not get married to her first cousin. Katie has her own plans if Lucas continues down this insane path. Thanks to Van, all the high level Alda priests who could have gotten in her way are gone (off to Amid I assume), which means she'll be able to much more easily use everything Van has already done in the territory (defeating the knights to save the cultivation villages, destroying the duke's castle, destroying the slave mines, creating a dungeon, etc. and so on) to force her dad into getting on both knees and begging forgiveness from Van and Talosheim.

Duke Jahan meanwhile takes everyone by surprise, given he was a closeted Vida believer who presents as a highly traditional Alda believer for various family and political reasons. Everyone expected him to join with Fazon as well, but instead he shows up with Vandalieu himself and announces to the nobles and merchant in the territory they have a trade agreement with Vidal. While this causes various Alda believers to be take aback or even angry at him, Hadron basically brings up the fact that Van defeated demon king Guduranis, and saved millions of Orbaume citizens, including all the Jahan duchy citizens who were with him in the capital at the time. Van again basically gives the same moderate line he's been selling to everyone: we simply want to be acknowledged and given equal rights, we don't care about dangerous monsters from dungeons or devil's nests. Hadros and Van also announce they'll be having a cultural exchange event, which will basically be a live performance by Kanako and the others, selling of V-cream and blood potion, and so on. Of course this is also secretly an attempt to guide as many people as possible, to increase the power of duke Jahan's base among the non-Alda extremists. Hadros apologizes for needing Van and his fiancees (Van clarifies that only Zadiris and Kanako are his fiancees, not Kanako Miriam) help with this, only for Van to say he's happy to. After all, Hadros is one of the few people, like Miriam and Arthur, who doesn't treat him like a god. Hadros is one of his precious few friends who doesn't try to build statues and temples to him.

Van also mentions he's doing work on the dark continent for Deanna, colossus of the moon, who is interested in having him find the original colossus god Zeno's remains (guess we'll come back to that later) and also that Elizabeth needs his help with something, so he'll be going for the moment. Apparently one of Elizabeth's half brothers has shown up, Weedle Suaron, and is in full-on boot licking mode, almost literally, to the point Van initially confuses the guy for some kind of weird pervert. Apparently he's begging for the Sauron Duchy and it's people to be spared? But at the same time, the duke of Sauron has just received a letter from the Vidal empire Weedle requesting him to basically hand over the duke seat to Elizabeth, and beg for his life? (I'm not actually sure if it's actually from Vidal / Van though? Or if Elizabeth sent it? Or if one of the other Sauron siblings sent it?)
(edit: Just so people understand, the raw is literally ヴィダル (Vidal) the empire vs ヴィーダル (Viidal) the brother, it's slightly hard to differentiate. )

So, Diana (I refuse to call her Deeana) is probably going to be the mommy is Neo Zeno with Van like Tia is Neo Marduk (best boy Bakunawa) mommy. Someday densuke will decide to make a family tree. He will think to himself "what the hell was I thinking..." in a half dead tone.

 

But who better to guide the princesses and soon to be princesses then The Queen/Empress...
