    a few very random ones.
    Socrates in Love (novel, movie, manga, and tv series)
    Tabi ni Deyou, Horobiyuku Sekai no Hate Made (more melancholy than straight-up sad but it lingers for a long time after you finish and it's a short one-shot).
    Hotarubi no Mori e is a manga and anime, not a novel, but it made me bawl in public, which is something I usually avoid at all costs.
    Strategy to Capture that Scum Gong and maybe Turns Out I'm Crazy for BL.

    Even worse is when author/writer passes away and you and everyone else don't even know about it. And won't ever know it. Forever waiting for it to continue...
