I can't imagine the headache that the programmers must have. I already have a headache from trying to keep up with the various problems that are popping up. I can't imagine how the people who are fixing it feel

It's not about who it's up to, it's about protecting the people who are translating: aka the translators. If you read in pirating websites, the translators do not get traffic nor possible donations or money from ads.

 

Yep, there are three major effects from widespread use of pirating sites:

• Translators see that they aren't getting many views (since the chapters are being read elsewhere), which leads to less motivation to continue.
• The site gets less ad revenue and donations, which means there's less money to spend on better, stable hosting or site upgrades
• Translators themselves get less ad revenue and donations. This leads to them being less motivated, and some might then put chapters out at a slower pace or even stop. Personally I don't believe that many translators would release chapters at the highest rate (2+ each day) if they weren't earning money for it. When translators release very often, obviously they have to put a lot more time into translating (one chapter can take 2+ hours, so you can imagine how much time some translators put in each day). At that point, they could be doing other things with their time like an actual job or a hobby. Sure they might still do a couple/a few chapters per week, but personal motivation is not enough on its own to sustain a high release rate.
