Discussion Best Non-Lethal Weapon in Fiction

I'm trying to find the best non-lethal weapon in fiction. Specifically the best at incapacitating a foe without inflicting permanent harm. I'm avoiding all powerful and insanely multipurpose weapons. Something specifically designed for quick, easy, convenient, and cheap takedowns.

Also, it'd be great if it neutralizes the threat like taking away their movement and powers and ability to escape or retaliate. Even better if it's common or standardized in that fictional world meaning it's not some rare, expensive, legendary, or unique thing.

There's a lot of fictional stun guns that knock people out or trap them in a forcefield or substance. I'm more looking for something like a gun that inflicts someone with a temporary state of conceptual death/false death. Or freeze them in time or like a camera that can trap a person in a photo. Just less unique and rare. Mass producable though moderately expensive.

If you were capable of inventing anything in fiction though just limited in time and resources, which weapon would be the best choice to make if you balance cost, time and effectiveness.

A lot of stories have the MC using a grease spell, or something similar, as a cheep trick to make the enemy slip and fall during the fight. How about a weapon or spell that made people super slippery all over? More than being unable to stand, any weapon would slip right out of their hand.

 

Like a whip or rope? Or a ninja wire?

That's a good one. Even better, if it's a modern or sci-fi world, how about a net thrower with a metal wire net with an attached capacitor? Shock and trap them at the same time.

 

Form running away from the hero

 

A good ole kick to the family jewels. It's a common weapon, and it'll make someone conceptualize death just like you wish.

 

Okay, I propose "god of cooking".

If you capture their stomach, there's almost no way that they'll think of escaping or retaliating. Of course, it's a legendary ability so I guess it doesn't check all the boxes.

If you mix the right amount of herbs as an apothecary... you could make a throw bag of sleeping powder/etc. It really comes down to knowing your craft though. In terms of production? You could make it out in the field if you had the knowhow and it is growing. Granted different races would need different types of mixtures but... if you had Willing test subjects... it might be easier.

if you need something convienient : i think a rope would do. bind your foe. he cant fight or flee anymore. of course you would have to take him down first

 

Spoon.

 

*Nature Calls* subtance or mist that make people suddenly have urge to pee.

Urge to pee in serious battle would make enemies cant concentrated, their movement restricted, and hurt their pride. Yep, it would be best weapon in perfect moment.
