@CountryMage Adding on. There are people in Lambda with no-attribute magic only, rare but still there. They usually become magic swordsmen or esper-like fighters iirc. Spoiler: Very Minor Spoiler from Origin about Mei's brother Mei's older brother has no-attribute magic (zero affinity for any elements). The first of his kind on Origin. Banda helped him become a no-attribute mage. His parents initially thought that he lacked talent in magic due to his unique element constitution. But he still stubbornly studied magic and Mei wanted to help him some way. We had an interesting discussion awhile back in the raws. The fact that life-attribute seems so underwhelming compared to the other elements might be due to fact that Alda now controls the life-attribute domain which he has zero affinity for in addition to his light-attribute. If Vida still had her authority over the life-attribute, life-attribute magic on Lambda would skyrocket in terms of application and intensity. Van's follower's may learn death-like skills a lot more easily with the divine protection. Such as Night Vision, Death Familiar Ascent, Stealth, longer lifespan, resistances to disease, Jobs, and Traits. However, not so much as death attribute itself unless Van becomes an actual deity. Van has too many benefits as a physical deity without being a real deity, such as Alda's stakes of law not working on Van at all like he did to seal Vida. I am surprised no one mentioned how Birkyne mentioned how Alda was instigated to attack Vida sooner than later. Knowing Alda or gods in general, waiting hundreds or years before taking action is the norm. Also, even among death attribute there are strong differences and specs. Guduranis couldn't break souls nor assimilate them similar to Van does. The previous demon lord was far more arrogant and brute forced his way, while Van has taken death magic in a more versatile and technical route due to his mindset and circumstances. There is also zero guarantee that by being a user of death attribute magic also gives soul breaking abilities.
This thread got too busy again. How am I supposed to know when the post is just some random person and not the update post.
Guduranis could break souls, that's how he killed the 4 creation champions and why everyone was so scared of him. He just couldn't devour souls and take their abilities like Van does.
Dont death attribute mgc come from guduranis world When scyla god call vandeliu he see that his ability seem similar to someone who has been killed by guduranis in his world
Not the abyss skill specifically, they didn't have the "system" back in their world. He just killed anybody who had powers similar to the abilities that the abyss skill brings.
Gudu could break souls. He just couldn't eat them. The full story is gudu broke the 4 heroes souls, rod nabbed the pieces and fused them together(this left a remnent of gudu's mana withen the soul), rod sent the now "fixed" soul into earths cycle of reincarnation because of the lack of mana on earth would mean even if there was a problem with the soul it couldn't do any real damage. Fast forward to van dying and going to origin. Van had horrible parents that sold him to a shady research place for booze money. They found van had huge mana value but no attribute. In origin everyone had a attribute, even people with little mana had at least 1. They figured van had to have a previously undercovered type. They then proceeded to perform horrible tests on him to draw out his attribute. The end result was the reawakening of the death attribute mana buried deep within his soul. Over the course of being a mana battery the death attribute permeated through his very being. This is why it is easy for van to get death attribute in his 3rd life since it has become second nature for him.
Yes, Gudu can break souls but he needs a long time to actualy do it, so he can't use it in battle like Van. And I would not say that the death attribute reawakened. It was more like it fused with Vans soul, becoming a part of it. Something that made using death attribute as easy as breathing for Van. That is also why Van strugled so much at using no-attribute magic at the start and the reason for death attribute magic being a passive skill.
Someone in the comments of the chapter mentioned that, how he apparently went against the common sense of the gods by attacking the new races so soon (100 years is less than a week in the eyes of the gods). I think that more than Vandeliu was a battery of mana, the reason why his soul is completely impregnated, is the nature of the attribute of death, until now although the mana of Van and Guru seem to be opposite, both share the characteristic of being dominant and coming into contact with any entity in the vicinity, how should this affect the main soul? possibly the mana of death pierces down to the core of the soul, making it impossible to remove over time.
He also was no hwhere near as efficient as Van, more just tearing the souls to shreds, and he could only do so to the dead, while Van can damage the souls of the living.
I seem to remember Vida saying that Zakkart wasn't too badly injured, his body seemed okay, but he was dead. I take that to mean the DK could harm the souls of the living, and we already knew that he used a lot of the same Death Magic spells as Van, including the Anti-magic Shield, Perception blocking stealth, and others.
To shorten this: - Old DK needed up to several minutes to break a soul (stated in the novel) - Van: 1. extend part of his spirit 2. grab the soul with the extended part 3. apply pressure 4. CRACK Even as Van used it on his first non-divine victim he needed around 15 - 30 sec for that. Van talked a lot.
we are here talking about how Gudu brute forced his way while Van tries other methods... but Van has a shit ton of mana at his disposal, i think Van also brute forces his way for soul breaking but he has more brute force to apply
@daxrocket For clarification. In the the context of the discussion that was referring to three people (Guduranis, Van, and finally Mei). There is no guarantee that Mei will learn soul breaking abilities. Although, she's like a holy daughter to Van, while Van is the holy son to Vida. I do want Van to visit Guduranis' former world if it still exists. It was said that their world was reaching its end and Guduranis took all the strong beings with him to invade a new world (Lambda). There were human-like beings in that former world and the former demon king never bothered with since they were so insignificant. The Lamia evil god stated that Guduranis killed all the users of an Abyss-like skill since he felt threatened by them.
Spoiler He has affinity, it’s just that he’s not particularly talented in anything. He wished to be special like his sister and parents. Banda taught him no attribute magic so that he could be good at something no one else is
